[3 Easy Recommended Crafts with Plastic Bottle Caps] Boost kids’ focus, imagination, and dexterity! Includes a breakdown of skill-building points for each craft and play activity.
wristwatch

This is a craft project that treats the round shape of a plastic bottle cap like a watch face and adds various decorations.

What you draw on the cap is important: you can create patterns as if it were an accessory, or draw numbers like a real watch.

If you draw numbers, it’s also recommended to make a hole in the center and attach movable hands made from pipe cleaners or similar materials.

Use origami paper for the watch’s strap.

Fold it into a rectangle with the colored side facing out, and attach a rubber band to the end so it can fit securely around the wrist.

It could be fun to pay attention to the color balance between the cap and the strap.

Gorgeous ring

Gorgeous ring

Let’s make a glamorous-looking ring that looks like it’s set with a large gemstone, using a bottle cap as the base.

First, make two holes in the cap and create a loop of chenille stem (pipe cleaner) sized to fit your finger through them.

Then, decorate the cap to give it a gemstone-like appearance and you’re done.

Use aluminum foil to add an overall shine, and place a gemstone motif made from cellophane or similar material at the center.

A key point is that you can change the shape of the “gem” by how you wrap the aluminum foil around it.

A spinning top made from a paper plate

A spinning top made from a paper plate

This is a hand-spun top made by combining a paper plate and plastic bottle caps.

Lightly fold the paper plate in half to make a crease, then use the intersection of the creases as a guide to find the exact center.

Once you’ve located the center, attach a plastic bottle cap to both the top and bottom of the plate—and you’re done! After that, decorate it as you like.

Since changes in weight can affect how it spins, we recommend decorations like drawing patterns with pens.

Also experiment with how you move your hand and fingers to see how it changes the way the top spins.

A toy with a cap that spins around and around

A toy with a cap that spins around and around

How about making a fun spinning toy that even small children can play with? Use an awl to make a hole in the center of a plastic bottle cap and thread twine through it.

After threading about ten caps, tie the ends of the twine securely to make a ring of caps, then slide it onto a stick.

Create supports with holes for the stick using a milk carton and cardboard, and you’re done.

You can also decorate the milk carton with your child’s favorite colors or characters.

About 10 to 12 bottle caps per ring feels just right.

hair clip

Here’s how to make a hair clip using the round silhouette of a plastic bottle cap.

Cut fabric to match a circle of thick paper (cardboard) you’ve cut out.

Make a slit in the center of the fabric and thread the actual clip through to check the size.

Place the cap on top of the cardboard and wrap string around it to resemble a straw hat.

Attach the cut fabric to the back of the hat, then use a hot glue gun to affix the clip and a ribbon to finish.

It’s a hat-themed accessory you can enjoy customizing in many different ways.
