Polkadot Stingray is a rock band formed in 2015.

Even if you’re not very familiar with their songs, there’s a good chance you’ve come across the music video for Telecaster Stripe on YouTube.

Their music is characterized by catchy, easy-to-listen-to melodies and frequent use of cutting-style guitar and dance beats.

Their approachable, danceable tracks have earned strong support from many guitar rock fans.

This self-titled track is distinctive for its LOVE PSYCHEDELICO-like style, weaving Japanese lyrics into primarily English ones.

At the same time, the vocal delivery has a certain flair reminiscent of Ringo Sheena, and the artist has explicitly stated that she was influenced by her.

Gokurakuto is a track included on the album Zenchi Zennou, which became the work that brought Polkadot Stingray to nationwide recognition.

The song features Isao Takano on keyboards, whose playing gently embraces and fits the lyrics’ negative emotions about romantic turmoil.

While Zenchi Zennou contains many emotional, edgy songs, the gentle sound of Gokurakuto stands out prominently among them.

This is a track included on their first album, Omniscience Omnipotence.

It’s based on an incident that could happen to anyone: getting drunk, going to sleep, and waking up to find a stranger next to you.

The confused-sounding guitar and Shizuku’s vocal delivery really convey a sense of inebriation.

This is a track included on the first mini-album “Taiseigi.” The vocalist, Shizuku, delivers a scream so expressive it borders on vengeful, showcasing remarkable emotional range.

Created as a tie-in with TV Asahi’s Friday Night Drama, this distinctive track was made entirely with English lyrics.

Set for release in May 2025, the 10th anniversary of Polkadot Stingray’s formation, it features a weighty sonic texture that stands apart from their previously catchy pop-rock style.

It vividly captures the world of the co-produced Japan–Korea drama starring Kumiko Aso, resulting in an ambitious work that symbolizes the band’s new challenge.

As a tense track that adds color to a suspense production, it’s sure to be irresistible for listeners who love mysterious vibes and enigmatic twists.
