Polkadot Stingray’s classic and popular songs

Polkadot Stingray is a rock band formed in 2015.

Even if you’re not very familiar with their songs, there’s a good chance you’ve come across the music video for Telecaster Stripe on YouTube.

Their music is characterized by catchy, easy-to-listen-to melodies and frequent use of cutting-style guitar and dance beats.

Their approachable, danceable tracks have earned strong support from many guitar rock fans.

I’ll be introducing some of their songs now!

Of course, there are great tracks besides Telecaster Stripe as well!

So without further ado, give them a listen!

Polkadot Stingray is a rock band that’s gained popularity for its catchy musicality.

Their rock sound, which puts pop sensibilities front and center, is highly addictive and a big hit at karaoke.

Among their songs, one I especially recommend is Chimera.

This track features a great deal of falsetto—most of it, from the first verse through the chorus, is sung in falsetto.

You don’t need to sing it with a lot of power, but because you’re in falsetto the whole time, it can even give you a headache, so it’s fair to say the song demands stamina.

This piece is included on Omniscience and Omnipotence.

Shizuku’s murmured, almost muttered vocals and the dry, detached-sounding instrumentation convey the melancholic feelings of heartbreak.

I’ve heard that Shizuku, the vocalist, studied in the UK, and her singing carries the dim, moody quality characteristic of UK rock.

A young band from Fukuoka that recently made their major debut.

The vocalist, Shizuku, has a distinctive vibe reminiscent of Ringo Sheena, and the carefully crafted worlds of their songs captivate many high school and university students.

It may sound condescending, but I’m looking forward to seeing what they do next.

It’s a perfect track for Halloween night! It’s a song by the rock band Polkadot Stingray, released in September 2023.

Created for the “Pokémon Music Collective,” a project that reconstructs background music from the Pokémon games.

It opens with a mysterious intro, then surges forward with an exhilarating, high-energy rock sound that’s irresistible.

It’s full of playful touches too, like incorporating the town theme “Lavender Town” from Pokémon.

Put it on at a party and you’re guaranteed to set a dark, stylish vibe!

[Volkswagen Golf CM] - Japan Edition 2021 (1) Volkswagen Japan 'Golf' TV Commercial

The commercial aired in 2022, titled “The All-New Golf Is Finally Here.” The piece that was used and quickly spread by word of mouth was “Stop Motion.” Even if you don’t immediately remember it, you’ll recognize it when you hear it and think, “Oh, that song.” It’s a track by the rock band Polkadot Stingray.

Its beautiful lyrics, which liken life to stop motion, and its driving melody perfectly matched the vibe of the commercial.

Another reason it drew attention was the overwhelming vocal prowess of Shizuku, the band’s lead singer.

Polkadot Stingray is a band that keeps rolling out hit numbers with their catchy musicality.

Their new song “Ano ne,” is also showing signs of becoming a hit.

This piece tends to be perceived as somewhat high.

In reality, while there isn’t much in the low range, the ostensibly high parts often sit in the mid-to-high range, making it easier to sing than it sounds.

I think the toughest spot is the long sustained note at the end of the chorus, but since it’s also a peak moment, make sure to take a big breath during the rest right before it, and avoid pushing too much volume on the long tone.

Let’s enjoy singing this fast-paced rock tune! Created by the rock band Polkadot Stingray, known for songs like “Himitsu” and “Yoake no Orange,” this track is included on their 2021 EP “Sekirara.” It serves as the ending theme for the anime Godzilla Singular Point.

The energetic sound and vocals, along with Shizuku’s voice, fit perfectly! With a classic, super-catchy melody line, it’s easy to remember and easy to sing.
