[Hot Masterpieces] Super Sentai Theme Songs: Opening & Ending Themes Through the Ages (11–20)
Bakuryu Sentai AbarangerMasaaki Endo

A dinosaur-themed Super Sentai series that aired in 2003, Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger.
In addition to red, yellow, blue, and black, a white warrior who opposes the protagonists also appears, which must have been pretty confusing for kids at the time.
The opening theme is Masaki Endoh’s “Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger.” It’s a song that feels like it’s all about “rampaging to the max,” with incredible intensity from start to finish! Really brings back memories.
JIKU ~ Future Squadron TimerangerKumi Sasaki

TimeRanger of the Future Sentai series began around the same time as the Heisei Rider show Kamen Rider Kuuga.
Because it explores the theme of time, it’s known as a particularly strong, SF-leaning work.
The powerful opening song is Kumi Sasaki’s “JIKU ~ Future Sentai Timeranger.” With a progressive and hard rock flavor, it’s clear the series was aiming to bring adults into its fanbase, not just kids.
Lupinranger VS PatrangerTatsuhiko Yoshida & Hitomi Yoshida

This Super Sentai series has been airing since February 2018 and, for the first time, adopts a double-Sentai format featuring two teams: the Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger, who are revered by the public as heroic gentleman thieves, and the Keisatsu Sentai Patranger, who fight as part of their duty for civic justice and an ideal future.
The theme song is also fitting for the double-Sentai concept, with a man and a woman singing two completely different melodies that intertwine.
Juken Sentai GekirangerTakayoshi Tanimoto

Juken Sentai Gekiranger from 2007, themed around Chinese martial arts and animals.
Lots of kids must have copied the transformation poses.
It had plenty of fresh ideas, like GekiRed, Jan Kandou, who struggles with speech because he was raised by tigers.
The song is Takayoshi Tanimoto’s “Juken Sentai Gekiranger.”
GaoRanger, roar!!Yamagata Yukio

Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger, which aired in 2001.
The theme song is Yukio Yamagata’s “Gaoranger Roar!!”.
There are five warriors in total, but the robots have a wide variety of combinations made from different animals, which made it really interesting.
I was an elementary school student at the time, and I had the complete set of toys!
Gatchaman SongMasato Shimon

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman is a sci-fi sentai anime produced by Tatsunoko Production that depicts the exploits of the Science Ninja Team, a group formed by five boys and girls.
The music was composed by Asei Kobayashi and performed by Masato Shimon and the Columbia Yurikago Choir.
At the time, children created and sang many parody versions of this song.
The percussion sounds are pleasantly resonant.

WINNER! Gojuuger!Wienners

Created by Wienners as the opening theme for the 50th anniversary work of the Super Sentai series, this track is a high-velocity rock number that fuses punk and electro, staying true to the lineage of their self-proclaimed galactic punk.
There’s an anecdote that Tamiya 2060% instantly rekindled his childhood memories of past Sentai theme songs and finished the song in just one day, and you can really feel the creators’ passion through that.
Perfect for this commemorative work that began airing in February 2025, the lyrics—centered on victory and uniqueness—resonate powerfully, and just listening to it naturally lifts your spirits.
Give it a listen when you want an energy boost in the morning or need the courage to take on a challenge.
