Rebecca’s famous and popular songs

Let me introduce songs by REBECCA, a four-member rock band with a female vocalist that debuted in 1984.

When you think of REBECCA, their song “Friends” is overwhelmingly famous.

Although they went on hiatus several times in the past, they reunited in 2015 and performed on NHK’s year-end Kōhaku Uta Gassen.

It’s said that bands with a female vocalist and all-male instrumentalists were rare at the time, but after REBECCA, this lineup became popular.

Now, please enjoy the music of REBECCA, a band that took their era by storm.

Rebecca’s Best and Most Popular Songs (1–10)

MOONREBECCA

Released in 1988, this is Rebecca’s ninth single and a very famous song.

Its poignant lyrics and beautiful melody are captivating, and the brilliance of the arrangement is simply outstanding.

You’ll also be overwhelmed by the sparkling vocals.

Midsummer RainRebekka

It’s a track that conjures up the languid air after a sudden evening shower and the sight of rain-soaked asphalt.

NOKKO’s emotionally rich vocals evoke a bittersweet, end-of-summer melancholy and an air of ennui.

The lyrics sketch fragmentary scenes and inner landscapes brought on by summer rain, likely resonating with listeners’ own summer memories.

The spatial sound processing reminiscent of reggae and dub lends it a distinctive, floating feel.

Released in November 1987 as the B-side of the single “NERVOUS BUT GLAMOROUS,” the song also appears on the album “Poison.” That album won Artist of the Year (Japanese music category) at the 2nd Japan Gold Disc Awards.

It’s the perfect song for a sultry summer night—when you’re lost in thought listening to the rain, or when you want to sink into a sentimental mood.

NOISE FROM YOUR HEARTREBECCA

“Noise From Your Heart” is the B-side to “One More Kiss,” released on November 21, 1988.

Like “One More Kiss,” I felt that both the singing style and the lyrics conveyed a slightly more mature, womanly quality.

Tattoo GirlREBECCA

This “Tatoo Girl” is the B-side to “Raspberry Dream,” released on January 23, 2002.

It is different from the B-side of “Raspberry Dream” that was released in 1986.

This “Tatoo Girl” is an early-period work, an unreleased track that was included when the record was reissued.

It was composed by the group’s early leader, Mr.

Kogure.

One More KissREBECCA

Released on November 21, 1988, One More Kiss is REBECCA’s 10th single.

It was also used in a commercial for Sony’s component stereo system “Liberty.” NOKKO studied ballet from a young age and showcases ballet-inspired dance in this music video.

London BoyREBECCA

This song “London Boy” is included on REBECCA’s fourth album, REBECCA IV ~Maybe Tomorrow~, released in 1985.

The lyrics for this song were not written by NOKKO, but by Chihiro Sawa, known for Sawada Chikaco’s hit song “Aitai.” In fact, Sawa’s debut as a lyricist was REBECCA’s “Love Is Cash.”

LITTLE ROCKREBECCA

“LITTLE ROCK,” released on November 22, 1989, is REBECCA’s 13th single.

In effect, it became the final single of REBECCA’s first era.

The lyrics, like a cheer song from NOKKO to hardworking girls, are encouraging.
