Rebecca’s famous and popular songs

Let me introduce songs by REBECCA, a four-member rock band with a female vocalist that debuted in 1984.

When you think of REBECCA, their song “Friends” is overwhelmingly famous.

Although they went on hiatus several times in the past, they reunited in 2015 and performed on NHK’s year-end Kōhaku Uta Gassen.

It’s said that bands with a female vocalist and all-male instrumentalists were rare at the time, but after REBECCA, this lineup became popular.

Now, please enjoy the music of REBECCA, a band that took their era by storm.

Rebecca’s Hit and Popular Songs (51–60)

(It’s just a) SMILEREBECCA

It’s a tearjerker included on their fifth album, TIME, released in 1986.

The song feels like 1950s pop set to a Japanese-style melody, and it’s put together beautifully.

The clear, transparent vocals make it a really nice track.

RASPBERRY DREAMREBECCA

Released in 1986, this was Rebecca’s fifth single.

Thanks in part to its use in a commercial, it became a huge hit following their previous single “Friends.” With rhythmic, steady instrumentation and powerful vocals, it stands as a true masterpiece.

StephanieREBECCA

This is a track from the second album, “Nothing to Lose.” It really showcases Takehiko Kogure’s sensibilities and is incredibly cool.

The electric guitar comping, the acoustic guitar strumming, and the arrangement are all excellent—truly a masterpiece.

LOVE PASSIONREBECCA

LOVE PASSION, included on REBECCA’s third album WILD & HONEY released on May 22, 1985, is a track that portrays the fiery sparks between romantic rivals.

It’s like a drama-worthy story!
