List of Rock Festivals in Eastern Japan [2026]

Held since 2009 under the name KESEN ROCK, this event wasn’t started by band members or event promoters, but by ordinary people. It’s described as an event “made entirely by hand without even knowing what a rock festival is,” making it a celebration of true DIY spirit.

Pay attention to the star-studded lineup at one of Fukushima Prefecture’s largest festivals, created by local Fukushima TV, Creativeman Productions (the organizer of Summer Sonic), and Flying Beko, a creative team formed by Fukushima natives. The spacious stadium venue—also used during the Olympics—offers more than just live performances by artists; it also features a rich array of free areas, including a market showcasing local Tohoku ingredients and art. It’s the perfect season for outdoor concerts, and well worth the trip to join!

This is an event hosted by AAB Akita Asahi Broadcasting, a television station in Akita Prefecture. To promote regional revitalization and share the appeal of Akita’s traditional festivals and customs, performances will be given by artists connected to Akita and by artists who support the initiative. There will even be a free online stream, so those who can’t attend in person can still make it in time! Named after the phrase “Kaga Hyakumangoku,” Million Rock lives up to its name as the largest rock festival in the Hokuriku region. With a solid, festival-worthy lineup, it brings excitement every year. Its major appeal is the large roster of stellar artists.

Speaking of Fuji Rock, it’s one of Japan’s three major music festivals. It’s a large outdoor rock festival that draws over 100,000 attendees across three days every year. The venue is Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture. You can enjoy a wide range of musical genres across stages of various sizes, and at night there are all-night DJ events—truly a festival where you can immerse yourself in music.
