Russia is a country that enjoys overwhelming support in classical and metal music.
In Japan, there isn’t much of a culture of listening to foreign music other than English and Korean, so many people may not be familiar with it, but the Russian music scene actually boasts world-class quality.
This time, I’ve picked out some artists and bands that are active in Russia.
I’ve selected songs from a wide range of genres, so please try finding a favorite artist.

She performed in Japan in 2007.
“Vysoko” is the title track of an album released in 2005.

A recommended band for those interested in Russian electronicore is Fail Emotions.
The album Transformation, which includes Dance Macabre, was also released in Japan.
They made their first visit to Japan in 2013.

The Buranovo Grannies are a band formed by people from Buranovo (Buranovo village) in the Udmurt Republic of the Russian Federation.
They represented Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012.
“Я красивая” means “I am beautiful.”

Alla Pugacheva is a singer who has been active since the Soviet era and retired in 2009 at the age of 60.
“A Million Roses” (Миллион роз) is a song released in 1982, and it is a classic that many singers in Japan have covered.

is a singing duo formed in Moscow in 1998, and many people may know them because they were frequently featured in the Japanese media for a time.

Olga was a singer-songwriter who passed away in 2015 at the young age of 44 and was also active in Japan.
