Recommended Russian artists: Popular international singers and singer-songwriters
Russia is a country that enjoys overwhelming support in classical and metal music.
In Japan, there isn’t much of a culture of listening to foreign music other than English and Korean, so many people may not be familiar with it, but the Russian music scene actually boasts world-class quality.
This time, I’ve picked out some artists and bands that are active in Russia.
I’ve selected songs from a wide range of genres, so please try finding a favorite artist.
Also, the war between Russia and Ukraine is ongoing.

Не плачуMOLLY

The Russian female vocal trio Serebro attracted worldwide attention, with even domestic editions released here in Japan, but they disbanded in 2019.
Some members, however, continue to be active as solo artists.
Among them, the one to watch is Olga Seryabkina, who led Serebro’s activities as the group’s only original member.
Olga also has an intellectual side as a professional interpreter fluent in English and German.
After leaving the group, she began performing under the name MOLLY and released an album in 2019.
The sound leans toward contemporary synth-pop, and Olga’s refined, beautiful voice is a pleasure to hear.
She also released an album under her real name in 2020, making her highly recommended for fans of female vocalists.
Смерти Больше НетIC3PEAK

IC3PEAK is an indispensable presence when talking about Russian electronic music.
Centered around genres like witch house and progressive rap, their sound leaves a powerful impact.
Active since around 2013, they have steadily gained worldwide popularity with each step in their career.
I’m sure some people in Japan know them as well.
With dark Russian pop-style melodies and progressive structures that shine through, they’re a highly distinctive group.
If you’re looking for stylish and unconventional tracks, they’re a must-check!
