You’ll want something that both children and adults can enjoy together.

Don’t worry if you don’t have much time to prepare.

With a bit of creativity, there are plenty of ideas that can turn it into an unforgettable memory—like projection mapping made with PowerPoint, body percussion that can be practiced solo, and quizzes or games that everyone at the venue can join.

Activities that Liven Up Elementary School Thank-You Parties! A Collection of Ideas Everyone Can Enjoy (61–70)

Dance ‘Tsubame’

Dance with full energy to YOASOBI’s “Tsubame”! This song was created based on the work that won the Grand Prix in the project “YOASOBI to Tsukuru Mirai no Uta,” which invited stories from children aged 6 to 19.

The lyrics, which encourage thinking about the future we’re going to live in, are perfect for children graduating and stepping onto a new stage.

If teachers and students all dance together, it will become an unforgettable memory.

Challenge the bamboo dance

Why not try your hand at a bamboo dance that uses long bamboo poles? It originated as a traditional dance in places like the Philippines, but in Japan it’s also well known as a children’s activity.

The operators open and close four bamboo poles to a waltz-like three-beat rhythm, while the dancers step nimbly to avoid getting caught by the poles.

Because coordination between the operators and dancers is crucial, it’s a great recommendation for those looking for a party trick to perform with close friends or classmates.

Start by practicing with two poles, then increase the number once you’ve got the rhythm down.

Having multiple dancers raises the difficulty, but it also adds to the performance’s color and impact.

theater

There are many kinds of performances, but plays are the kind that bring everyone together as one and boost teamwork.

Practice can be tough, of course, but that effort will surely turn into great memories, and it will also become a treasured memory for the teachers and parents watching.

You’ve probably performed a few plays at events like school arts festivals over the past six years, but how about trying a story you’ve never attempted before—or even creating an original script and performing it? An original story that reflects who you are now will surely stay in everyone’s hearts.

Memory movie

It does require some advance preparation, but in terms of getting everyone excited, a “memory movie” is highly recommended.

If you don’t regularly keep the camera rolling, it’s hard to capture funny moments, so it will inevitably involve some cost.

In such cases, citing the intention to feature it on the school’s website can make it easier to secure a budget and other resources.

The act of looking back on memories can also bring significant benefits in education.

Dance “Habit”

“Habit,” which became a hot topic for its distinctive choreography featuring SEKAI NO OWARI members and many dancers in school uniforms, took off online with countless “I tried dancing” videos posted on social media and video sites.

The lyrics carry a message: “Don’t try to force yourself into a mold—just charge down the path you believe in!”—making it a perfect fit for kids about to embark on a new chapter.

It would be great not only to have the children dance to it at the thank-you party, but it might also be fun as a performance for the teachers to put on school uniforms and dance as well.

Reverse playback movie

Do you know what a reverse-playback movie is? It’s a video that’s been recorded performing actions in reverse, and then played back in reverse.

Lately they’re really popular on user-posted social media—everyone’s uploading them.

In the end, the actions look like they’re moving normally, but there’s something unnatural, a bit jerky about the motion that naturally makes viewers laugh.

Since that alone can get repetitive, try balancing it by inserting photos of the kids’ memories or messages of thanks to the teachers in the middle of the video.

And be especially careful when choosing the background music!

Dance ‘Pocari’

The dance showcased every year in the Pocari Sweat commercials—commonly known as the “Pocari Dance.” Each year, the refreshing music and choreography perfectly match Pocari Sweat, and you can’t take your eyes off it.

How about we all try dancing the “Pocari Dance” together? Every song is exciting and uplifting, so you might have a hard time choosing.

There are also dance videos available, so be sure to use them for practice!
