What has moved you the most in your life so far?

What has moved you the most in your life so far?

This is a question that asks someone to recall the moment in their life when they were most moved.

Let’s approach it from various angles—such as times they were moved by real-life experiences or by encountering a work of art.

Even the nature of being moved differs by person—joy, sadness, and more—so through the questions, you can get a sense of what stirs that person’s emotions.

It also seems like a question that can reveal whether the person readily expresses their feelings and how easily they are emotionally affected.

What club activities did you do?

What club activities did you do?

This question asks what kind of club activities you belonged to during your school days and how you were active there.

Through the clubs you joined, we can learn what you’re interested in, and we can also get a sense of your personality from how you spent your time.

If you find someone from the same club, you can get excited over common topics; if not, it’s still an enjoyable topic from the perspective of each person’s memories.

By focusing on how seriously you engaged with the club and what results you achieved, we can get an even deeper sense of who you are.

If you could go to either the past or the future, which would you choose?

If you could go to either the past or the future, which would you choose?

A time machine that can jump to a time far removed from the present is a classic concept in sci-fi and the like.

If such a time machine were available, let’s have people think about whether they’d rather go to the past or the future.

By having them present the time they’d like to visit and the reasons they want to go there, we might also get a glimpse of what they value.

It could also be interesting to pay attention to how far from the present they want to look, and whether that time falls within their own lifespan.

Where do you want to travel?

Where do you want to travel?

How about asking where they would like to go if they were to take a trip, including the reasons why? A person’s choice of destination can reveal their feelings about places and travel, and the distance to the destination can also give you a sense of their initiative.

By asking whom they would like to travel with, you may get a sense of the people they value and how they relate to others.

Let’s explore their ideal travel destinations from various angles—places they’ve always longed to visit but haven’t yet, or places they’d love to return to.

What are the local specialties?

What are the local specialties?

Depending on the school or company, there may be situations where people gather from various places.

This question is useful when everyone comes from different hometowns: ask what each place is famous for.

Learning what each person’s hometown is known for and what the local culture is like can lead to smoother communication afterward.

If you find someone from the same area, you’ll have a shared topic to get excited about, and even if not, it’s a great way to deepen your understanding of places you didn’t know much about.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

What would you do if you won the lottery?

Many people probably buy lottery tickets regularly, dreaming of a possible windfall.

This question asks about that familiar daydream everyone seems to have had at least once: if you won a big prize in the lottery, what would you spend it on? Whether someone would splurge all at once or use it gradually can reveal their personality and sense of money.

The way one spends might also change depending on the amount won, so let’s pay attention to how spending plans differ by prize size.

Until what age did you believe in Santa Claus?

Until what age did you believe in Santa Claus?

Santa Claus brings presents at Christmas.

Especially when we were children, he was probably a source of joy.

This question invites you to reflect on the time when you still believed in Santa.

It can also reveal personal Christmas stories—like the moment you caught your parents setting out the gifts, or how you gradually learned the truth from those around you.

Rather than just being tales of shattered dreams, these are topics that can convey the environments people grew up in and the kindness of those around them.
