Yuki Saito made her debut in 1985 with the song “Sotsugyo” (“Graduation”).

Idols at the time often had catchphrases, and hers was, “Even the times are dyed by Yuki.” Two years after her debut, she starred as Saki Asamiya, the first Sukeban Deka, in the TV series that began airing then, quickly becoming a hugely popular idol.

In the show she fights using a yo-yo as a weapon, and the yo-yo model used in Sukeban Deka became such a hit that it showed just how influential she was.

She continues to be active today as both an actress and a singer.
