[Challenge!] Guinness World Records that large groups can easily attempt (1–10)
The number of paper cranes made by 100 elementary school students in 5 minutes
This is a Guinness record for how many classic origami cranes can be made in five minutes.
Since the conditions specify a team of 100 elementary school students, the key point is how many students skilled at origami you can gather.
The steps used to fold the cranes are also important; having many people master a simpler process is likely the key to achieving the record.
Even if some people get flustered and can’t fold well, others can make up for it by working hard, so I think it’s a record that can also strengthen the team’s sense of unity.
Number of people who caught the kendama on the big cup

When it comes to Guinness World Records familiar to many Japanese people, perhaps the first that comes to mind is “the most people catching a kendama on the big cup.” That’s because attempting this record has become a year-end tradition on the NHK New Year’s Eve music show, Kōhaku Uta Gassen.
For reference, the show has tried it six times and succeeded three times.
Feel free to use the broadcast as a guide for your own attempt.
The current record is 127 people.
Start by practicing catching on the big cup! It takes some technique, so you might struggle at first.
Number of people gathered in samurai attire
The Shingen-ko Festival, held every April in Yamagata Prefecture, has been making headlines for a Guinness World Record it achieved.
The record is for the largest gathering of people dressed as samurai, totaling 1,061 participants.
Apparently, there were initially about 1,500 people in samurai attire, but each person was checked individually, and those who didn’t meet the criteria were excluded.
These criteria were determined through discussions between the festival organizers and the adjudicator.
If you’d like to take on the challenge, be sure to look into the requirements in advance.

Number of books stood up in this domino

This record involves lining up used books like dominoes, aiming for a flawless topple while also counting how many books are used.
Since books aren’t originally meant to be knocked over, the message conveyed through the challenge is an important element as well.
Drawing a final blueprint of how the books will fall, along with persistence and team unity in working toward that vision, are essential to achieving the record.
By handling the books until the setup is complete, participants gradually deepen their affection for books—perhaps that’s what makes it a Guinness World Record that fosters a growing love for them.
The number of times cola explodes
Have you ever seen someone drop Mentos into cola and make it explode? Believe it or not, there’s a Guinness World Record for that too.
The record measures how many people can make cola erupt simultaneously.
The current record is 1,500 people, achieved by a school in Belgium.
If you think you can gather even more people, I hope you’ll give it a try.
Just remember that since you’ll be making cola explode, you need to do it in a place where it’s okay to make a mess and wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
If you’re aiming for more than 1,500 people, even preparing enough raincoats might be quite a challenge.
Number of people brushing their teeth at the same time
For those looking for a Guinness World Record that people of all ages can attempt, tooth brushing is also recommended.
The concept is very simple: gather as many people as possible and brush your teeth together.
Even small children can join in.
And as long as you can gather enough people, achieving it should be relatively easy.
The current record, set in the Philippines, is 10,800 participants.
Gathering that many people, however, makes securing a venue a challenge.
A schoolyard or athletic field might not be large enough.
Number of people who did a backflip at the same time

This is a Guinness World Record for performing a backward handspring—commonly known as a backflip—simultaneously with a large number of people.
It’s important not only to gather as many participants as possible who can perform a backflip on their own, but also to secure a space where that number of people can safely attempt it.
While it’s fine to try with a group size just slightly above the current record, some flips may not be counted as successful, so it’s recommended to recruit extra participants to account for that possibility.
If you bring together a wide range of age groups or invite celebrities to join, you can further enhance the sense of unity and achievement among participants.
