These games have simple rules but offer full participation, new discoveries, and a real sense of achievement.

Cooperative physical activity games (1–10)

Soccer practice game

[Slightly Hard] Soccer Practice Video — Training with Game Elements
Soccer practice game

A soccer training game with playful elements that kids and adults alike can enjoy.

First, choose the runners, then form groups of 5–6 people and hold hands.

One person in each group becomes the target for the tagger, and should wear a visible marker so the tagger can identify them.

The tagger succeeds by touching the target or snatching the marker.

The runners circle around to block and defend so the tagger can’t touch the target.

It’s great for warm-ups before practice or matches because it builds explosiveness, teamwork, and decision-making.

It’s a bit demanding, so adjust the intensity to suit age and fitness levels and have fun.

Team Communication Game: Human Knot [Sports Recreation Plan]
human disentanglement puzzle

A group of people randomly hold hands in a way that makes things more complicated.

Without letting go, they twist, duck, and step through to untangle themselves into a single, straight ring.

It’s a full-body, puzzle-like activity that uses everyone’s minds and bodies, aiming to build team unity and complete the challenge enjoyably through good communication.

Ping-Pong Ball Relay

Ping-Pong Ball Relay

You may have done this at a school sports day.

It’s a game where you place a ping-pong ball on a ladle, dash to pass it to the next person, and compete for the best time.

Since it’s time-based, speed matters, but what’s crucial is how well you can carry the ball without dropping it by staying calm.

The key is whether you can work carefully and accurately without succumbing to pressure.

Fetching a distant ball

Fetching a distant ball

It’s a game where everyone helps someone reach for a ball that’s placed just out of reach.

The person grabbing the ball won’t succeed unless they trust the team and let themselves be supported, and the supporters need to be attentive to how the grabber is doing and assist them carefully.

By cooperating in these ways, the team’s sense of teamwork will likely grow stronger.

Samurai sword-fighting (chambara) battle

Samurai sword-fighting (chambara) battle

It’s a large-scale mock sword-fighting game where teams clash on a battlefield.

Participants hold sponge swords and wear a ball called a “life” on their arm, aiming to knock off the opposing team’s ball with their sponge swords.

It’s advantageous to gang up on a single opponent with multiple teammates, so your strategy for how to press the attack really matters.

To keep things safer and more exciting, it’s recommended to set rules like only using the hand holding the sponge sword and only targeting the arm with the ball.

Dash through the gym while scrubbing the floor!

Dash through the gym while scrubbing the floor!

This activity involves racing through the gym while in the posture used for wiping the floor with a cloth—competing for speed while also cleaning the gym.

Since it uses a unique posture different from regular running and involves equipment, you also get to experiment with how to go faster.

Until participants get used to it, it’s recommended to first compete in straight-line sprints, then expand to courses with curves or obstacles.

Even those who aren’t good at regular running might discover that they can win in this posture—there may be new findings like that.

Reaction game using markers

Even toddlers can do it! Here’s a reaction game (recreation game) using markers.
Reaction game using markers

It’s a game where players compete to see who can grab a specified marker fastest from a circle of markers in various colors.

There’s a cone placed at the center of the marker circle, so the game starts with everyone running around that cone.

The key is that everyone runs in the same direction, and the caller will either give an instruction to switch running direction or call out a color.

It’s a game that tests each player’s reflexes, where predicting when a color will be called—and which color it will be—is also important.

Healthy Kids Treasure Hunt

This is a game played on a square court with four teams.

At the start, each team takes one of the seven balls placed in the center of the court and places it in their own territory.

Once the balls in the center are gone, teams begin stealing balls from other territories.

The team that has a total of three balls in its territory wins.

It’s essentially a running game, but the key to victory may be maintaining a wide field of vision within the team and calling out to teammates.

Co-op Challenge

Aim for consecutive successes in Snow Man’s “9-Member Cooperation Challenge”!
Co-op Challenge

Let me introduce cooperative challenge games that multiple people can enjoy.

First is a layup shoot game where everyone makes consecutive shots into a basketball hoop.

Dribbling while shooting really heightens the tension, doesn’t it? Next is the badminton basket catch game, where you catch badminton shuttlecocks with a basket.

Work together as a team to succeed.

In the paper airplane challenge, everyone must consecutively fly their planes 2 meters.

If even one person’s plane doesn’t make it, you start over.

How you fold the paper airplane is a key factor, too.

Give it a try!

Here’s an idea for a recreation activity called “Hoop Pull-and-Run” that lets you enjoy teamwork while getting moving.

Wrap a string around a hula hoop; one person pulls the string while the other stands inside the hoop and moves in sync with it, making sure not to step outside.

It looks simple, but the key is coordinating with your partner.

The funny movements you make trying not to step out are sure to spark laughter.

It’s even more fun as a race with multiple pairs.

Suitable for both indoors and outdoors, it’s a teamwork game that connects body and heart—perfect for senior sports days and parent–child activities.
