[Intro to Live Music] What does “ADV/DOOR” you often see at live houses mean?

You often see the letters ADV/DOOR at live music venues.

Some of you may not even know what they stand for.

This time, I’d like to explain the term ADV/DOOR.

What is ADV/DOOR?

When you go to see a show at a live music venue, I think you sometimes see wording like in the image on the sign at the reception.

ADV is an abbreviation for Advance Tickets.

What are Advance Tickets?advance ticketI see. / That's what you mean.

“DOOR” is short for “At Door,” meaning that tickets can be purchased at the entrance.same-day ticketIt is about.

I also often see the letters “1D,” which means “one drink.”

It means that, in addition to the ticket price, there’s also a one-drink fee.

Also say it in other ways!

ADV/DOOR is the mainstream, but sometimes it is written as DAY, as shown in the image.

Even if it says “DAY,” it still means the same—it's a same-day ticket.

In overseas contexts, it’s often written as ADV/DOS rather than ADV/DOOR.

DOS is an abbreviation for DOORS, and it also still means "same-day tickets."

The occasional “w/f”

In addition to ADV/DOOR, the term “w/f” also exists.

It seems common in clubs, and this is an abbreviation for “with flyer.”

In other words, it means that if you bring the flyer, this will be the price.

Although such notation has become less common now that social media is widespread, it was used until a little while ago.

That kind of notation makes it easy to understand.

Lastly

You’ll almost certainly see this wording at the reception of clubs and live music venues.

For those visiting for the first time, I imagine you’d like to put your worries to rest beforehand.

I’d be happy if I could be of help to people like that.
