Official HIGE DANDism shot to fame and joined the ranks of major bands when their 2019 single “Pretender” became a huge hit.

Many of the band’s songs feature piano, played by vocalist Satoshi Fujiwara.

You can enjoy a wide variety of piano performances that suit their sound, which blends genres like jazz, R&B, and rock.

Fujiwara, who can also play drums, brings a strong sense of rhythm to his piano playing; in particular, the intro to their 2021 single “Universe” showcases a funky style.

Sumika is a four-piece rock band that made their debut in 2018.

Their appeal lies in a pop-rock sound that lifts your spirits when you listen.

Takayuki Ogawa is in charge of keyboards; he joined the band as a guest in 2014 and became an official member the following year.

His hallmark is a crisp, bright piano tone, which you can hear in tracks like Lovers (released in 2016) and Glitter (released in 2022).

SHE’S is a rock band from Osaka attracting attention as a next-generation piano rock band.

In 2011, frontman and pianist Ryoma Inoue reached out to the other members saying he wanted to start a rock band that incorporates piano, and they formed the group.

Their appearance as finalists in Senkou Riot, an audition limited to teenagers, led to their major-label debut in 2016 with the single “Morning Glow.” In 2020, the piano score for “Letter,” which was featured in a commercial for Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons, was released for free—so be sure to try covering it with your band!

The band that won the 2021 Japan Record Awards’ Best New Artist is Macaroni Enpitsu.

Their signature songs include “Lemon Pie,” the ending theme for TBS’s King’s Brunch, and “Hashirigaki,” the theme song for the film Crayon Shin-chan: Shrouded in Mystery! The Flower of Tenkasu Academy.

All the members are graduates of Senzoku Gakuen College of Music in Kanagawa Prefecture, making them a group of skilled technicians, and they’re a band with a unique worldview while remaining pop.

The keyboardist is Daiki Hasegawa, who played an upright piano on the 2021 single “Nandemonai yo,”.

WEAVER is a three-piece piano rock band whose name carries the meaning of “people who weave music.” Their charm lies in their pop, sparkling sound.

The band’s leader, Yuji Sugimoto, who handles vocals and piano, not only composes the band’s songs but is also active in a wide range of fields, providing music to other artists and composing for stage productions.

His hallmark is a melodic, original piano sound that goes beyond simple chord playing.

Ryokuoushoku Shakai’s appeal lies in Haruko Nagaya’s powerful vocals and the band sound that showcases their superb ensemble.

In particular, Peppe’s piano—backed by experience competing in classical contests—defines the band’s color.

The 2020 single “Shout Baby” features crisp, rhythmic playing, while the 2022 digital-only single “Breath” offers a ballad-like, gently expressive piano.

King Gnu quickly rose to fame with their unique sound that fuses R&B, hip-hop, rock, and jazz.

Many of their songs feature the piano in a key role, and their appeal lies in sound production that is both delicate and bold.

Their 2019 release “Hakujitsu” and 2021 release “Ichizu” both reached No.

1 on the singles charts.

While Satoru Iguchi, the band’s vocalist, plays keyboards during live performances, the recording sessions feature Fumitake Ezaki—keyboardist known for his work with WONK and millennium parade.
