Types of playing cards and how to play

A set of playing cards known as a deck of cards, with four suits each numbered from 1 to 13, plus jokers, has a fixed total number of cards.

Even within that limited number, you can enjoy a variety of games by devising different rules.

Here are a few examples of the many ways to play with playing cards.

Types of Playing Cards and How to Play (11–20)

domino toppling

This is more of a card-handling technique than a card game! You often see magicians do it when they shuffle cards.

When you actually try it, you’ll realize it’s more difficult than you expect.

If you want to shuffle stylishly, practice is the only way!

Who's the winner of Concentration? The Three Sisters.

Concentration is a game where you turn cards face down and try to find pairs with the same number.

It tests your memory and your intuition.

They say it becomes even more interesting if you play not with just one deck of cards, but with several.

There’s a limit to how much you can memorize, but on the other hand, you could also say there are plenty of matching cards.

Flip over the face-down cards, and if the cards 1, 9, and 3 appear, quickly place your hand on them.

The last person to put their hand on the cards takes all the cards that have been turned over and accumulated up to that point, and the person with the fewest cards at the end wins.

There is also a similar game called Shichi-Go-San (Seven-Five-Three).

Daifugō (also known as Daifugō/Daifugō; literally “Grand Pauper,” the Japanese card game often called President/Scum)

There are various local rules, but the basic format is that after the cards are dealt evenly, players play rock-paper-scissors, and the winner leads by playing a card.

Each card has a strength based on its number, and players must play a card stronger than the one previously played.

The first person to play all of their cards wins.

The mind games around card strength make for very heated matches!

Page One is a game where you must keep playing cards of the same suit as the first card played, with higher numbers.

If you can’t play a card, you must take all the cards there.

The name comes from declaring “Page One” when you have one card left.
