Songs with titles starting with “Tsu.” Introducing classics from the Showa to Reiwa eras! (421–430)
flat-chested (slang)Kotoura Haruka (Kanemoto Hisako)

It’s a classic song that briskly sings about a maiden’s bittersweet worries.
The lyrics themselves don’t feel particularly foolish, but I want to praise the “glorious stupidity” (meant as a compliment) of the staff who made this and played it over the ending.
Watching it together with the show’s ending visuals boosts the poignancy by about 20%.
Please, by all means, avoid watching it in front of women who are worried about their bust size.
one after another; in rapid successionTamura Memi; Wada Ayaka

Meimi Tamura, a former member of the Hello! Project idol group ANGERME, is from Gunma Prefecture and has continued to work as a solo artist since graduating from the group in 2016.
Ayaka Wada, the first leader of ANGERME, is also from the same hometown.
It’s a surprising fact that there were two members from Gunma in such a nationally popular idol group.
Moon cherry blossomKai Kento

Kaito Inuto is an enka singer from Nagano Prefecture.
In addition to enka, he excels at kayōkyoku as well, capturing the hearts of many fans with his wide-ranging musicality.
He’s an exceptionally tall singer at 193 cm, but for a tall vocalist, his voice is notably gentle.
His charm lies in his approachable vocals.
He rarely uses strong kobushi (ornamental vibrato), so his songs tend to be catchy.
All of his works are easy to listen to, making them recommended even for those not familiar with enka.
Moon RainMasaki Yōko

When it comes to songs about the moon, many are love songs where you look up and think of someone.
This one, however, is enka—a mature love song.
Even the title, “Moon Rain,” evokes a gently subdued mood, and the lyrics are brimming with emotion.
It’s a piece that softens the unruliness of grown-up love through the delicate filters of the moon and the rain.
Tears of the MoonYaita Hitomi

A song included as the third track on Hitomi Yaida’s double A-side single.
This lesser-known track is a power ballad with a beautiful melody.
It’s a straightforward breakup song, so many listeners will likely relate to it.
Although the title is “Tsuki no Namida” (Tears of the Moon), the word “moon” never appears in the lyrics.
It seems to serve as a symbolic term expressing the singer’s negative emotions.
Tsugaru no JoppariIshigami Kumiko

Kumiko Ishigami is a female enka singer from Minamifurano, Hokkaido, who made her debut with this song in 1986.
Her voice, honed through folk songs, and her distinctive vocal style drew attention, and she swept the newcomer awards at the 1987 (Showa 62) music festival.
In 1987, she formed the lively trio “Hatsuratsu San’nin Musume” together with Fuyumi Sakamoto and Aya Shimazu.

Tsugaru Strait Winter SceneIshikawa Sayuri

There is a classic song that beautifully and poignantly portrays a northern winter landscape and a bittersweet love.
Powerfully sung by Sayuri Ishikawa, the piece recounts the feelings of a woman traveling from Ueno on a night train to Aomori, where she bids a final farewell aboard the Seikan ferry.
Since its 1977 release, it has garnered numerous honors, including the Japan Record Award for Best Vocal Performance, and stands as a monumental work in the enka genre.
Set against the frigid Tsugaru Strait, the image of a woman quietly deciding to part ways amid snow and the roar of the sea is deeply moving.
Please enjoy a wonderful time together, singing along or clapping in rhythm as you savor nostalgic memories.
