finger hairChōkyūmei

Choqmay is a band that has gained popularity for its addictive musical style that makes full use of a distinctive high‑tone voice.
While the band often features many high-pitched parts, their new song “Yubikami” emphasizes this aspect even more, with repeated falsetto passages in the chorus that use a whispery tone.
The vocal line itself isn’t among the most technically difficult, but the wide range and the stamina required for the high sections make it quite challenging overall.
Consider adding it to your repertoire.
impulseNoda Megumi

Emi Noda is a female singer-songwriter who has been active since the 2000s.
Having started her career as an artist in elementary school, she has gained popularity with cohesive J-pop refined over many years.
Among her songs, the one I especially recommend is Shoudou (Impulse).
While there aren’t many low phrases, it features many high phrases—including some quite high falsetto—making for a wide vocal range and a high level of difficulty in pitch control.
dawnLiSA

“Dawn” is a song that celebrates the drive to seize a new future.
Released in 2021, it was selected as the opening theme for the anime Back Arrow.
It’s a rock tune full of speed and strength, and LiSA’s confident vocals are undeniably cool.
Despite its uptempo feel, the melody is easy to latch onto, and the pitch range is around average for female singers.
The song spans mid1 F to hi G#, and while LiSA makes it feel even wider than it actually is, it’s best to listen closely and ride the song’s momentum.
Try singing with the intention of projecting powerfully, just like LiSA!
RainSIRUP

SIRUP is a singer-songwriter active in Japan’s current R&B scene.
If you’re into Black music, you’ve probably heard of him.
Among his tracks, the one I especially recommend is Rain.
The verses sit in a low register, and when the chorus hits, falsetto comes in.
The vocal line spans a very wide range, making it fair to say the difficulty is truly S‑class.
The fact that it’s an R&B track further adds to the challenge, which is another noteworthy point.
UnstoppableSuyon

Sooyoung, the idol who was hugely active in the early 2010s as a member of Girls’ Generation.
She’s extremely fluent in Japanese and has now made her major solo debut in Japan.
Her new song is Unstoppable.
The track is crafted with a vibe reminiscent of early-2000s Japanese R&B.
The challenging point of this piece is the falsetto in the chorus.
It’s not just about hitting high notes—you have to sing them with a sexy nuance, which demands considerable expressive skill.
OthelloDAZBEE

DAZBEE is a singer from South Korea.
She’s a highly popular female vocalist in the utaite community for her beautiful Japanese and emotional tone.
Among her works, the one I especially recommend is Othello.
While this song doesn’t have an exceptionally wide vocal range, it’s sung with a technique that blends falsetto and whisper voice with breath control, making breath management and control challenging.
Of course, the chest-voice parts are also high, so if you’re a woman with a higher voice, definitely give it a try.
Phantom DivePorukadotto Sutingurei

Polkadot Stingray’s classic track “Ghost Dive,” released as the fifth installment of the Pokémon anime’s music project “Pokémon Music Collective.” This work incorporates electro swing—a jazz genre popular in Australia and Germany—and demands advanced falsetto in the A section, chorus, and bridge.
It can be sung in chest voice as well, but in any case, since it sits in a high register, it will require considerable vocal stamina.
