Setsubun: Oni (ogre) and Otafuku (good-fortune woman)

[Setsubun Decorations] February: Easy Origami Oni (Demon) and Otafuku for Setsubun [Simple Craft] Setsubun
Setsubun: Oni (ogre) and Otafuku (good-fortune woman)

Let’s make origami featuring the essential oni (ogre) motif for Setsubun and the otafuku (good-luck woman) motif to emphasize a celebratory mood.

For the oni motif, use triangular creases as guides and shape it while keeping the horns in mind.

For the otafuku, make good use of the white reverse side, rounding it off while aiming for a cute look.

By choosing different colors of origami paper and drawing various facial expressions, you can create your own unique Setsubun decorations.

It’s also recommended to finish it off gorgeously by mounting them on a base like a lace paper doily.

Holly wreath made from a paper plate

Cute & Easy Christmas Wreath♪ A 2-year-old actually made it too♪ DIY EASY CHRISTMAS WREATH.
Holly wreath made from a paper plate

This is an easy Christmas wreath made by using a ring cut from a paper plate as the base and decorating it with construction paper cut into holly leaves and other shapes.

If cutting the jagged edges of the holly is difficult, you can prepare all the parts—including the leaves—in advance and let everyone enjoy the decorating.

Arranging holly leaves in different colors and other pieces that evoke winter and Christmas helps develop creativity as you design your own wreath.

A key point for a more festive look is to carefully layer the pieces so that the base is fully covered.

A displayable, playable origami spinning top

A spinning top often played with during the New Year—how about making one out of origami? Since you fold it using multiple sheets of origami paper, it ends up looking colorful and cute, which is part of the charm.

Plus, the top you make isn’t just for decorating on the wall—you can actually spin it and play with it.

If you spin tops with friends or family, it’ll definitely liven things up.

Try folding them together and have fun.

By the way, it’s said that spinning tops during the New Year helps ward off evil spirits.

It also carries the meaning of bringing good luck.

Fluffy snow rabbit

[Winter Craft] Fluffy Snow Bunny Wall Decoration♪
Fluffy snow rabbit

Rabbits, with their fluffy feel, are perfect for winter and are often made out of snow.

Here, let’s make a snow rabbit wall decoration.

The snow rabbit itself is made from tissues.

Take about five tissues, crumple them into a ball, and shape them like a rabbit.

Once the shape is done, add the rabbit’s ears and eyes.

Use colored paper cutouts for the ears and dot stickers for the eyes.

The plum blossoms around it are easy too: stack and stick five red dot stickers together for each flower.

Place a small yellow dot sticker in the center.

It’s also cute to stick on snowflakes made with a hole punch.

When it snows, you can’t help wanting to make a snow rabbit.

A snow rabbit is also a great motif for winter crafts! Try creating a soft, three-dimensional snow rabbit using tissues.

Crumple a few tissues to form the base of the snow rabbit, then wrap it with one more sheet to give it a fluffy look.

Add red round stickers for the eyes, cut out ears from origami paper and attach them, and it’s done! When displaying it on a wall, you might combine it with construction paper cut into a tray-like shape for the background, or decorate it with plum or camellia flowers and snowflakes for a lovely finish.

Santa and the Reindeer

[Wall Decoration] Part 1: “MERRY” Merry Christmas!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Santa and the Reindeer

It’s not only little children who can’t help getting excited when they see Santa Claus and his reindeer! Once December arrives, why not brighten up your walls by arranging Christmas-themed motifs—like trees, the words “Merry Christmas,” snowflakes—alongside Santa and reindeer decorations? If Santa and his reindeer appear on the wall, older adults will surely start looking forward to Christmas too.

We also recommend gradually completing the decorations together with everyone as you get ready for your Christmas party!

Making snowmen out of tissues is such an adorable idea.

Folding the four corners and securing them with tape might take a bit of time for older adults.

But that’s a chance for communication—we can chat and have fun while working together.

With tissue-made snow and scarf decorations, you can create uniquely individual snowmen.

Let everyone’s imagination run free and make a one-of-a-kind snowman.

It’s also great mental exercise, so it’s a win-win.
