Yarn-Wrapping Tree
Introducing a Christmas tree you can make by wrapping yarn—an easy craft using familiar materials! Try it with your kids.
First, cut a piece of thick paper into a triangle and snip small notches around the edges.
Next, wrap yarn around it, tucking it into the notches as you go.
Decorate with beads, then combine it with a base made from a cut toilet paper roll wrapped in origami paper—and you’re done! Since it stands upright, it makes a great accent for your room and will really boost the festive Christmas mood.
Santa made with a paper plate
For children looking forward to Christmas, we recommend a Santa craft using paper plates.
Everyday paper plates transform into a humorous Santa! First, tear light peach and red origami paper, then combine the two to make Santa’s face and body.
Next, attach the facial features, hat, hands, feet, belt, and cotton beard to finish! The process is fun to make, and through this activity your child’s expressions will shine even more.
The finished piece has a warm feel and will surely brighten up any indoor space!

The Christmas season is coming around again this year! Here, we’ll introduce a wall craft you can make with children.
First, prepare cotton, silver origami paper, a white crayon, colored construction paper, scissors, and liquid glue.
Start by cutting the silver origami paper and colored construction paper into parts with scissors.
Glue the cut pieces in place.
Stick the parts onto construction paper cut into a snow globe shape.
Then, apply plenty of liquid glue to the areas where you want the snow to fall, tear the cotton, and sprinkle it over the parts like snow! Finally, color in the gaps with a white crayon, and your original snow globe is complete!
Penguin made by tearing tissue paper
Why not try making penguins while enjoying the texture by tearing and pasting tissue paper? For prep, prepare the penguin’s body, the white belly, and the penguin’s flippers.
Cut these parts out of construction paper ahead of time.
Have the children tear white tissue paper and glue it onto the belly piece of construction paper.
Since this expresses the penguin’s fluffy fur, it’s nice to be mindful of how you describe it to the children.
Attach the belly to the body, add facial features with round stickers, and it’s done.
It’s a simple craft, so feel free to add your own twists.
Have fun making adorable penguins!

We don’t see kadomatsu decorations at private homes as often anymore, but they’re still displayed at the entrances of large buildings.
Here’s an idea for a wall-hanging kadomatsu you can make for a room.
Roll green construction paper into tubes and cut the tips at a slant.
Make three tubes with slightly different lengths.
Attach them to a paper plate covered with doily paper, then cover the lower halves of the three tubes with light brown paper.
Finally, add a ribbon to the open space on the plate and attach a string for hanging, and you’re done! The look will change depending on the types of paper plates and doilies you use, so prepare a few options and let the kids choose their favorites.
Snowman wreath
How about a snowman wreath as an item to brighten up your room? It’s an idea that even 0-year-olds can enjoy making! Cut thick paper into a wreath shape and stick on a paper doily.
Next, crumple tissue paper and attach it onto areas with double-sided tape.
Decorating with cut origami, round stickers, and washi tape will make it even more festive.
Finish by adding a snowman made from construction paper, and it’s done.
Adjust the steps—such as using glue or scissors—according to the children’s ages, and have fun creating!
Snowflake Tree
When it comes to December’s main event—Christmas—the perfect wall decoration is a snowflake tree.
Paste on snowflakes with various patterns to create a festive Christmas tree.
Use blue or light blue paper to make the base of the tree, then decorate it with snowflake ornaments.
Adding a ribbon or a large snowflake to the top will make it even more glamorous.
There are snowflake designs ranging from simple to intricate, so discussing and creating them with the children will make the activity even more exciting!
