A collection of Western songs with titles that start with “W”

When it comes to songs with titles that start with “W,” do any come to mind?

We don’t usually pay attention to the first letter of a song title, so it might be hard to think of examples right away.

That said, when it comes to English words starting with “W,” there are interrogatives like “What,” “Where,” and “Who,” and just from those alone, there must be plenty of songs!

There are also words like “Walk,” “Wonder,” and “Word,” which all sound like they could appear in song titles.

In this article, I’ll introduce lots of songs with titles that start with “W.”

By searching for music from a perspective you might not have considered before, you may discover new tracks.

When it comes to emblematic figures of the UK scene in the 2020s, it’s undoubtedly Little Simz.

Born in London with Nigerian roots, she’s a multi-talented artist who also works as an actor.

Her fourth album, 2021’s “Sometimes I Might Be Introvert,” is a sweeping masterpiece that transcends hip-hop and deserves a place in music history.

With a cinematic orchestral palette and Afrobeat influences, and a structure where introspection intersects with social commentary, it’s astonishing that all of this was created independently.

The album won the Mercury Prize and was met with critical acclaim.

Its story of dialogue with the self will resonate with music fans across genres—so make sure to experience it for yourself!

What You Won’t Do for LoveBobby Caldwell

Bobby Caldwell is one of the singers who represents AOR and blue-eyed soul.

Although he was white, he gained popularity with an authentic R&B sound.

Among his works, this song is surely the timeless classic that continues to shine.

Its straightforward and passionate message—doing anything for the one you love—really strikes a chord.

The smooth melody and distinctive horn section create a sophisticated, romantic mood.

Released as a single from his debut album “Bobby Caldwell” in September 1978, it’s also famous for the anecdote that it was written in just two days.

I think it’s a perfect song for a leisurely holiday atmosphere.

Accompanied by a gentle piano tone, Billie Eilish’s vocals questioning the meaning of existence create a heartbreakingly beautiful ballad.

Featured in a pivotal scene of the film Barbie, the song delicately portrays the inner turmoil between fulfilling the role of a perfect doll and finding meaning in living as a human being.

Included on the album Barbie The Album, released in July 2023, its universal message resonated with audiences around the world.

At the 66th Grammy Awards, it won Song of the Year, securing its place in history as a masterpiece that transcends the boundaries of film music and pop.

With a whispery vocal that seeps into the heart, this track is perfect for moments when you want to pause and reflect on yourself, or for quiet, sentimental nights.

Singer-songwriter Dean Lewis from Sydney, Australia is loved worldwide for his emotionally rich lyrics and melodies.

Featured on the deluxe edition of his album “The Epilogue,” this track is a gemlike ballad released in January 2025.

Set against delicate piano and guitar, it tells of lingering feelings for a former lover.

Though the other person has already moved on, he alone remains stuck in place—a bittersweet ache that his signature husky voice conveys with piercing realism.

With a backstory that it was originally considered for Rihanna, the song’s craftsmanship is exceptional.

If you’re nursing an unforgettable heartbreak, have a handkerchief ready and give it a listen.

What You DoingPacifica

Hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Pacifica is an indie rock duo you should keep your eye on right now.

Formed in 2021 by Inés Adam and Martina Nintzel, their origins are uniquely tied to a shared love for The Strokes.

They first gained attention with cover videos on YouTube, but since releasing their album “Freak Scene” in September 2023, they’ve been earning high praise for their original songs as well.

A major draw is their raw guitar sound—heard on tracks like “What You Doing”—that evokes the garage rock of the 2000s.

On top of having the chops to open for Måneskin, they’re set for their first Japan shows in December 2025.

If you want to feel the heat of rock that’s both nostalgic and new, be sure to check them out!

WHAT NOWUMI

WHAT NOWUMI

Umi is a singer-songwriter from Seattle with Japanese roots.

Like her name, which means “sea,” her voice envelops you with depth, offering healing music often called “healing neo-soul.” The song I’m introducing today is a heart-wrenching ballad from the album “people stories,” released in July 2025.

It portrays the protagonist right after a breakup, sitting in the car where the couple used to spend time together, asking themselves what to do from here.

The intentionally stripped-back, low-end-light arrangement conveys a raw sense of emptiness, as if a hole has opened in the heart.

It’s a song that gently stays beside those who feel a directionless sorrow—as if they might collapse alone amid the crowds of Shibuya.

WILL SMITHAdanna Duru, MNEK

An international collaboration between California-born singer-songwriter Adanna Duru and UK powerhouse singer-producer MNEK came to fruition in November 2025.

The Afropop track crafted by these two artists, who both have Nigerian roots, packs dancefloor-shaking beats and soulful harmonies into a compact runtime of about two minutes and forty seconds.

The lyrics portray a confident protagonist who steps into the club with a fresh style and effortlessly captivates their target, shaping the song into a nightlife anthem that fully embraces personal allure and sexuality.

Its title borrows the name of an actor-rapper, a playful nod that underscores its appeal as a party tune anyone can enjoy.

If you’re looking to turn up the energy in the club or on your playlist, this is a must-check.
