Funny Commercials [2021] (1–10)
AGC ‘Whatever it is, whatever it is, AGC / 5G Antenna Edition’Issey Takahashi

This is the kind of commercial that, once you see it, gets stuck in your head.
It’s the AGC ad featuring Issey Takahashi, titled “Nandashi, Nandashi, AGC / 5G Antenna.” Both the person asking and the person answering end their lines with “-dashi,” which makes it really catchy, and the comical movements by Takahashi and the background music make it even more addictive.
I bet little kids love this kind of commercial (lol).
Of course, adults will want to try that way of walking too!
Indeed CM On-air Battle 2021JaruJaru, Kamaitachi, Chocolate Planet, New York

This is the commercial for the job site Indeed, famous for the tagline “Find jobs on Indeed.” Four comedy duos—JaruJaru, Chocolate Planet, Kamaitachi, and New York—each perform a sketch in the ad.
All four sketches were actually broadcast as commercials, and viewers voted on social media for the funniest one to decide the winner, making the campaign feel like a contest.
The second installment’s theme is working part-time at a café.
Each duo delivers a distinct, chuckle-worthy sketch that’s fun to watch.
By the way, following their win in the first installment, JaruJaru took the top spot again.
DOCOMO “3-Second Cooking: Ultra-Fast Shrimp Fry” Edition

You’d think it was a three-minute cooking show, but surprise—it’s three-second cooking!? This is NTT Docomo’s commercial “Super-Fast Fried Shrimp.” Using a device called the LTE Lane, they set a shrimp in place and press a button… The shrimp is launched at high speed, passes through flour, beaten egg, and breadcrumbs ejected from the machine, gets seared by powerful flames, bounces off a cushion, and drops onto the plate below.
It all happens in a flash—three seconds—so it’s shown in slow motion, and you can’t help but be amazed by how well it’s done (and amused!).
The commercial went on to win multiple awards at the globally renowned Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
GU ‘Period Drama’ VersionAyami Nakajo, Sota Fukushi, Noritake Kinashi

You might think it says “curry bread,” but this commercial calls GU’s 2021 winter “Magnificent Pants” collection “Karei-pan” for short.
In the “Period Drama” version, GU’s main characters Ayami Nakajo and Sota Fukushi appear, along with Noritake Kinashi.
Although it’s set in a historical drama, all the clothing is from GU; the contrast between traditional hairstyles and modern outfits really catches the eye.
Sota Fukushi bursts in stylishly as the “Karei-pan Samurai” during an exchange between Kinashi and Nakajo, only to be met with a deadpan “Who are you?” from both as soon as he strikes a pose.
It’s the kind of commercial that makes you chuckle without thinking.
TikTok: “Grandpa is a TikTok creator?!” VersionFumiyo Kohinata, Ryo Narita

This is the TikTok commercial “Grandpa’s a TikTok Creator!?” featuring Fumiyo Kohinata and Ryo Narita.
It’s part of a series where the inside of Grandpa, played by Kohinata, and his grandson, played by Narita, get switched and they both kind of seem to be enjoying it.
Every time I watch it, my brain glitches a little, you know? (lol) In this ad, Kohinata, who looks like a grandpa on the outside but is a young person on the inside, tries TikTok for the first time and suddenly goes viral.
And then his gateball buddies find out about it too—making for a fun storyline.
au Too High-Consciousness! Takasugi-kun “Quiz Tournament” VersionNanase Nishino, Ryunosuke Kamiki, Honoka Matsumoto, Taishi Nakagawa

This is the “Quiz Tournament” episode of au’s ‘au PAY Card’ commercial series featuring the ultra high-minded Takasugi-kun.
Ryunosuke Kamiki plays the highly motivated high schooler Takasugi-kun; Honoka Matsumoto plays his classmate Matsumoto-san; Taishi Nakagawa plays the overly meticulous Hososugi-kun; and Nanase Nishino plays Savings-obsessed teacher Chosugi-sensei.
The commercials are always comical and fun, but this time it’s a quiz tournament—and it’s surprising that Chosugi-sensei is the advisor to the quiz club.
The over-the-top reactions from Takasugi-kun and Hososugi-kun are especially worth watching (lol).
IRIS OHYAMA Cordless Cyclone Stick Vacuum Cleaner “The Man and Woman Who Suck”Ryo Yoshizawa, Hana Amano

This is the “The Man and Woman Who Suck” commercial for Iris Ohyama’s rechargeable cyclone stick vacuum cleaner, starring Ryo Yoshizawa.
Yoshizawa plays Shojiki Kaname, a CM planner.
As he’s drinking and brainstorming ideas for a stick vacuum commercial, the cleaner’s excellence is introduced through his thoughts.
Then, a woman appears out of nowhere and, pulling an exaggerated funny face, declares that its suction power is also worth noting and takes a big inhale; Kaname follows suit… In the end, the two of them pulling funny faces made me forget all about the vacuum’s explanation (lol).
