Funny Commercials [January 2023] (1–10)

BOSS Craft BOSS Coffee New-New: “A New-New Encounter”Emi Suzuki, Kan Yamazoe

The Suntory Craft Boss Coffee New New “A New New Encounter” commercial has been released, featuring Kan Yamazoe from Aiseki Start and Emi Suzuki.

It’s a commercial you can’t take your eyes off because of its surreal scenes.

Featuring model Emi Suzuki and Hirosi Yamazoe from the comedy duo Aiseki Start, it’s BOSS’s “A New-New Encounter” spot.

Yamazoe speaks to Suzuki, who’s drinking Coffee New-New, in a trendy tone, but she ignores him completely.

The combination of the visuals and the song is so comical that it ends up stuck in your head before you know it.

The track is by the Korean idol group T-ara and was released as a single in Japan in 2012.

LINEMO “Power & Yaah” VersionNakayama Kinnikun

Nekoyama Kinniku-kun appears in an absurd commercial where the conversation consists only of “Power” and “Yaa”!?

This commercial features a mysterious, offbeat world where the appeal and strengths of LINEMO are conveyed in a unique “language.” Comedian Nakayama Kinnikun handled the concept, crafting a surreal setup in which the conversation proceeds using only his signature gags, “Power” and “Yah.” Muscular men dressed to accentuate their physiques discuss the charms of LINEMO through just “Power” and “Yah,” set against a moody atmosphere.

After a drama-like segment, the spot shifts into a different kind of strange world as the cast shouts “Power” and “Yah” in unison.

It’s a fun commercial that showcases Nakayama Kinnikun’s distinctive style.

Cup Noodles: “I Want to Eat Miso” Edition

NISSIN CUP NOODLE Miso Commercial “I Want to Eat MISO” Version 30 Seconds

The Cup Noodles commercial “I Want MISO,” themed around a “miso festival,” depicts a baffling, almost chaotic worldview.

Just when you think it’s a love story between a man and a woman, three ‘miso masters’—apparently pros representing each of the three miso varieties used in the product—show up; a salamander sprinkles sansho pepper onto the mystery meat; Mount Fuji is made of miso…

The sheer amount of information makes you want to blurt out, “What is this?!” The creators behind the ad are AC-bu, a unit known for TV and commercials.

The result is an addictive, high-impact world on full display.

Daiwa House Daiwaman Season 2 Episode 4 “Pride” VersionHidetoshi Nishijima, Hayato Ichikawa

[TVCM] Daiwa Man SEASON 2 Episode 4 “Pride”

This commercial portrays Hidetoshi Nishijima, who has inherited the role of Daiwa Man, heading out for a location shoot at Daiwa House’s residential-complex revitalization project, “LIVNESTA TOWN.” The contrast is striking: Hayato Ichihara, playing the junior colleague, flusters and apologizes over the troubles leading up to the shoot, while Hidetoshi Nishijima remains composed and dignified.

As they walk to the filming location, Daiwa Man draws attention from passersby.

Nishijima says he feels no embarrassment, and his words convey a strong sense of pride in being Daiwa Man.

Although Hayato Ichihara clearly explains what LIVNESTA TOWN is, the commercial ultimately seems to emphasize the way of life—the ethos—of Daiwa Man.
