Funny commercials [December 2024] (1–10)
Canon Marketing Japan “AI Disaster Prevention” VersionKento Kaku, Wakana Matsumoto

In this series of commercials, Kento Kaku appears at a café where Wakana Matsumoto is seated and delivers a powerful promotion for the Canon Marketing Japan Group.
This time, he presents on AI disaster prevention, and after listening, Matsumoto-san, echoing the company’s catchphrase “a company that realizes a super exciting future,” remarks, “That’s super exciting.” Keep an eye on Kaku-san’s satisfied expression, too.
TOYOTA “The Best of Both: PHEV” Version

This piece, depicting a conversation between the Crown PHEV—which can run on both electricity and gasoline—and a mascot character shaped like the letter E, is the “E-tokodori PHEV” segment.
When the Crown speaks hesitantly, saying, “I’m neither here nor there—electricity or gasoline…,” the mascot praises it: “You’re amazing—you’re a two-way player!” That prompts the Crown to get more fired up than expected, declaring, “I’m a bundle of appeal, the hope of the EV world!” The humorous turn, along with their cute exchange, makes you want to see a sequel.
Iris Ohyama Chef Drum “Doubtful Girlfriend” VersionRyo Yoshizawa, Eri Murakawa

This is a series of commercials in which Shojiki Kaname, played by Ryo Yoshizawa, is suspected of cheating by his girlfriend, played by Eri Murakawa.
Iris Ohyama’s commercials often feature humorous direction, and this time the trigger for the suspicion is, surprisingly, an Iris Ohyama product.
Shojiki Kaname, who hadn’t really cooked before, buys the Chef Drum, which leads to him being suspected.
Murakawa’s convincingly scary portrayal of the girlfriend is outstanding, and all eyes are on Kaname as he’s relentlessly pressed.
Kentucky Fried Chicken Winter Original Chicken “It has to be KFC” Version

This commercial, featuring a male employee as the protagonist, is themed around a company year-end party.
The man had decided to himself, “I’m having KFC tonight,” but a year-end party was suddenly scheduled for that day.
He agonized over whether to attend until the last minute, but in the end he ran off saying, “I can’t today!” and ate KFC at home.
Many people can probably relate to that feeling when, once you’ve decided on KFC, nothing else will do.
PARCO “Winter 2025 PARCO Grand Bazaar” VersionTakanori Nishikawa

Takanori Nishikawa’s trademark Hot Limit suit is originally black, but in this commercial he appears wearing a red Hot Limit suit.
Nishikawa powerfully sings out “Grand Bazaar,” creating an unforgettable impact—once you see it, the ad leaves a lasting impression.
Yonekyu Gotenba Kogen Coarse-ground Pork — Hiroshi Fujioka, Gote-Ara-Po!! Rich Flavor “Debut” Version / “We’ve Reached the Richness” Version / “Gorai-Po” VersionHiroshi Fujioka

In the commercial where Hiroshi Fujioka introduces Yonekyu’s Gotenba Kogen Coarse-Ground Pork Sausages, the way he shortens the product name to “Gote-Ara-Po” leaves a strong impression.
While highlighting the product’s rich, savory flavor, he calmly delivers puns, creating a surreal vibe that makes it a funny ad that will likely draw a chuckle.
UHA Mikakuto Ninja Meshi “On the Job” VersionGenta Matsuda

In this ad, Genta Matsuda appears dressed as a ninja in UHA Mikakuto’s Ninja Meshi commercial, “At Work.” Previous commercials have often had a surreal twist, and this one is no exception.
After Matsuda asks, “What do you do when you get a bit peckish at work?”, the shoot pauses and he’s shown eating Ninja Meshi.
Pay attention to Matsuda’s indescribable expression near the end of the commercial.
