AIFUL ‘Modern Japanese Literature Instructor’ Version / ‘Modern Japanese Literature Instructor: Rice Ball’ VersionMao Daichi, Hiroki Konno

In a modern Japanese literature class for working adults, a proprietress appears as the instructor and presents a question about interpreting an author’s feelings.
It’s a fill-in-the-blank problem, and the way you answer it branches into two patterns.
If you answer “cat,” she reacts with sharp, comedic retorts; if you answer “rice ball,” she worries that you’re hungry.
The expected answer seems to be the familiar line, “Hey you, is there love in that?” but the fact that it’s unclear whether this really aligns with the author’s feelings is part of what makes it so comical.
Aiful “Wedding” VersionMao Daichi, Hiroki Konno

It’s a story where the proprietress gives a speech at Mr.
Konno’s wedding and throws out the question of whether this is really the place to be asking such a thing to him.
Along with words of congratulations, she adds her usual line, “Is there love in it?” which ends up making everyone wonder as if this marriage lacks love.
Even if love is something to be cherished, you can see from Mr.
Konno’s expression his lament that, just this once, he didn’t want that phrase to be used.
It conveys how even a famous quote, depending on timing, can make the atmosphere feel uneasy.
Aiful ‘Conductor’ EditionMao Daichi, Hiroki Konno

In the fifth installment of the series, the proprietress appears as a train conductor.
On the train, Mr.
Konno is sitting and enjoying a mobile game, while an elderly person stands in front of him.
Unaware and absorbed in his game, Mr.
Konno is admonished by the proprietress-turned-conductor.
Although Mr.
Konno is shocked that she suddenly became a conductor, the commercial ends with a scene of him awkwardly giving up his seat.
Iris Ohyama Camera-Equipped Refrigerator “Please Don’t Look” VersionRyo Yoshizawa

This is a commercial introducing a feature that lets you check the contents of your refrigerator via smartphone.
A woman appears in front of Shoujiki Kaname, who is in prison, and starts looking through the contents of the refrigerator at his home.
She says, “Oh? You’re even chilling something like this?” Without revealing what’s actually inside, she keeps checking item after item.
Kaname pleads, “Please stop!” and grows increasingly cornered.
You don’t really know why, but the ad creates a mysterious sense of tension and makes you feel like you’re seeing something you shouldn’t.
It’s a surreal and funny commercial.
IRIS OHYAMA Packaged Rice “Revenge of the Packaged-Rice Faction” VersionRyo Yoshizawa

This is a commercial for packaged rice featuring an executive from the “freshly milled rice” camp and Masao Shoujiki.
In the commercial, the executive shows Masao Shoujiki a proposal for a freshly milled rice ad.
Realizing they’re planning to spend a large budget, Masao teases the executive, saying, “You’re getting flustered because packaged rice is selling.” It’s a cleverly directed commercial that uses a meeting scene for a freshly milled rice ad to actually promote packaged rice.
IRIS OHYAMA Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner “This Gap” VersionRyo Yoshizawa

This scene shows Sunao Kaname in a jail cell in a commercial for a rechargeable stick vacuum.
He shouts, “Let me out of here!” but no one will free him.
Then, out of the blue, he remarks, “If it were Iris’s slim cleaner, it could fit through this gap,” introducing the stick vacuum from a wildly unexpected angle.
The absurd twist and Ryo Yoshizawa’s convincing performance are sure to make you laugh.
