Fishing games with magnets are a DIY classic—so let’s give it a Halloween twist.

Hang a ghost made from a paper cup at the end of the fishing line and use the power of magnets to reel in pumpkins and Frankensteins.

If you hide candy under the pumpkins and other characters, it becomes a perfect Halloween activity for kids! Adding a few non-candy “duds” will make it even more exciting.

The kind of recreation that really livens up a party is, of course, playful activities.

Let’s make a Halloween-themed ring toss and have fun together! You’ll probably start feeling festive from the moment you begin making it.

You’ll need items like cardstock, a drawing board, and some wire.

First, roll the cardstock to create the ring toss targets.

You can also wrap cardstock around a toilet paper roll to make them.

Draw bats or ghosts on the targets, then fix them onto the drawing board.

For the rings, use wire.

Wrap them with colorful tape to give it a party vibe!

Maze Game

This large-scale recreation that kids absolutely love is the “maze game.” Imagine a big maze appearing where there was nothing before—no wonder the children can’t contain their excitement! Incorporate all sorts of tricks, like dark tunnels made from cardboard boxes, spiderwebs made of jump ropes or elastic cords, and boxes where you reach in to grab a key.

You could also make use of gym mats and balls.

And of course, decorate with plenty of jack-o’-lanterns, bats, and ghosts to create a full-on Halloween atmosphere!

Drive out the ghost!

Let’s play using plastic bottle caps, just like the traditional marble-flicking game (ohajiki).

First, prepare a good number of plastic bottle caps.

Draw ghost faces on white and yellow round stickers and stick them onto the caps.

Next, mark the play area on the table with vinyl tape.

Then flick the caps with your finger to knock other caps out of the marked area.

Try to knock out as many of your opponent’s colored caps as you can.

It’s a sure-fire, high-energy game!

Ghost-hunting game

When it comes to Halloween, you can’t do without ghosts! So let’s try a ghost-hunting game.

The ghost-hunting game is fun whether you’re indoors or outdoors.

First, decide the area where the game will take place, and hide handmade ghosts within that area.

The rule is that the children all search for them at the same time.

You can end the game once everyone has found all the ghosts, or you can make it a competition where the person who finds the most ghosts wins—either way, it’s sure to be exciting!
