[Childcare] Fun Halloween activities. Halloween games that are perfect for parties.
Halloween is something kids really look forward to—especially because they get treats! Lately, more families and childcare settings have been hosting Halloween parties.
In this article, we introduce games that are perfect for Halloween and great for kids.
Along with classics like candy hunts, ghost fishing, and the mummy game, we’ve gathered lots of activities for preschoolers in nursery schools and kindergartens.
Give them a try for inspiration! There are games you can enjoy as crafts, as well as activities that involve dancing.
[Childcare] Fun Halloween activities: Halloween games that are a big hit at parties (1–10)
Drive out the ghost!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CiaEpA8pQCW/Let’s play using plastic bottle caps, just like the traditional marble-flicking game (ohajiki).
First, prepare a good number of plastic bottle caps.
Draw ghost faces on white and yellow round stickers and stick them onto the caps.
Next, mark the play area on the table with vinyl tape.
Then flick the caps with your finger to knock other caps out of the marked area.
Try to knock out as many of your opponent’s colored caps as you can.
It’s a sure-fire, high-energy game!
Ghost busting with an air cannon
https://www.instagram.com/p/CjMjUvfJ6jY/Target practice with an air cannon is a popular game in early childhood education, isn’t it? Let’s give it a Halloween twist! First, decorate paper cups to use as targets—stick on ghost face parts or wrap them with yarn to make mummies—however you like.
The air cannon is easy to make: cut a plastic bottle in half, then attach a balloon with its bottom cut off over the cut opening using masking tape, and you’re done! Pretend the ghosts are evil spirits, shout “Begone!” and have everyone knock them down together.
With just a small tweak, a familiar game can feel like a festive event.
[Hand Play] One Little Ghost

Let’s all play the hand game “Ippiki Obake” and liven up the party! Following the song, you move one hand, then both hands, then your feet—adding more body parts as you go—so it’s also a counting game.
Moving everything at the end is pretty tough…! There will likely be moments of wobbling and big laughter.
The tune of this hand-play song has a humorous feel.
Enjoy the kids’ adorable little-ghost act and have a wonderful time.
You can play as long as there’s one person to demonstrate, so while the kids are playing, other adults can prep the next activity or set out snacks—handy for keeping the party running smoothly.
Candy hunting game

If you’re looking for a Halloween game to play in the playground, why not try a “Candy Hunt” game? You can certainly do it indoors too, but I think it’s more fun outside where there’s more space.
Preparation is super simple! Just make some candy and hide it around the playground.
Then explain the rules to the children and set a time limit so they can enjoy searching for the treats.
If you can’t hide real sweets, try making brightly colored candy out of construction paper instead!
Swirling Mummy

There’s a classic Halloween activity called the Mummy Game.
You wrap toilet paper or similar around a representative from each team, and the team that finishes first wins.
This “Whirly Mummy” is the idea of doing that with a doll.
Cut yarn or similar into suitable lengths and, at the starting signal, wrap it around the doll.
The child who finishes wrapping all their yarn first is the winner.
It’s also good finger exercise, making it a perfect game for early childhood settings.
Transform into a Witch! Obstacle Race

An obstacle course where kids can dress up as witches as they clear each stage is a game that builds excitement and anticipation.
First, after crawling through a tunnel decorated for Halloween, they put on a cape and do a little pumpkin spoon race.
Next, they put on a hat and head to a fishing game for ghosts and pumpkins…
Finally, they say “Trick or treat!” and receive some candy.
You can get creative and adapt the game in many ways depending on your ideas.
Let’s transform into cute witches and enjoy a Halloween party!
Witch Hat Ring Toss

Let’s have fun with a ring toss using a witch-like black pointed hat.
Make the hat out of construction paper.
First, prepare two sheets: cut one into a donut shape, and use a pencil tied to string to mark and cut the second into a cone.
Roll the cone, snip slits around the bottom edge, apply double-sided tape, and attach it to the donut-shaped piece.
Your witch’s hat is complete.
For the rings, twist newspaper into thin strands, form them into circles, and wrap tape around them—that’s it! It’s a great idea for Halloween parties and more.
