Charm Explosion! A Roundup of Japanese Three-Piece Bands (Great for Cover Bands Too!) [101–110]
EVERBLUEOmoinotake

Omoinotake is a piano rock band formed in 2012 by members from Shimane Prefecture.
Since their formation, they have been highly active, and in 2021 they finally made their major-label debut.
Their music ranges from ballads with strikingly minimal beats to tracks that make you want to get up and dance.
Influenced by Black music, their songs display refined groove and rhythmic sensibility.
They’re a standout band poised for explosive growth in popularity.
This is fine.KALMA

KALMA is a band formed in Hokkaido in 2016, originally as a four-piece.
After a lineup change in 2017, they became a three-piece and continued to work energetically, making their major debut in 2020.
KALMA’s music is characterized by a sound that evokes a sense of nostalgia and the warm, approachable singing voice of vocalist Yuzuki Hatakeyama.
Their catalog ranges from songs that get you pumped up to ones that warm your heart, so be sure to explore a variety of their tracks!
Lightly and perkyKaneyori Masaru

A girls’ rock band based in Osaka.
They made their nationwide debut with the 2019 album “Kakegaenaku Naritai,” showcasing a driving, powerful guitar sound paired with cute, translucent vocals.
Their lyrics express delicate feelings—like the impatience and confusion unique to youth that are hard to tell anyone—packing in an everlasting adolescence you never want to forget, which is so wonderful.
With many energetic, powerful tracks, they’re also highly recommended for girls who want to start a band.
EchoBURGER NUDS

Formed by three classmates, they were a three-piece rock band that mainly performed at live houses in places like Shimokitazawa and Shinjuku during their active years.
In addition to songs in Japanese, some of their early tracks also featured English lyrics.
Although they released only a small number of demo tapes and single CDs, each song clearly reflects the members’ strong commitment to their craft.
Hey, darling.tsukimi

Tsukimi is a gutsy, gyaru-style rock band from Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture.
For a long time they operated as a duo with Niichan and Shuka, but in June 2024 Ritan joined as their bassist.
Their energetic live performances are a major draw.
True to their self-described “gutsy gyaru rock band” image, their makeup and fashion are full-on gyaru.
But contrary to their looks, their appeal lies in a powerful, hard-hitting rock sound! Many of their songs depict relatable stories of love, which I think many women will find easy to empathize with.

To youBUZZ THE BEARS

BUZZ THE BEARS is a three-piece rock band formed in Osaka in 2002.
Their appeal lies in the heartfelt, emotive qualities packed into a refreshing, high-speed melodic hardcore approach.
Depending on the song, that emotion shows up in the lyrics, in the overall mood, or in the phrasing of each part—but as you listen, you’ll feel a fire light up deep in your chest.
Their melodies and atmospheres are also outstanding, with plenty of undeniably cool tracks, so start by checking out a few songs.
If you’re into rock bands, you’ll almost certainly get hooked.
NanahitsujiShinario Aato

Scenarioart, a three-piece band with male-and-female twin vocals formed in 2009 in Shiga Prefecture, has been drawing attention for its unique sound that fuses rock, electronica, shoegaze, and pop.
They made their major-label debut in 2014 with the mini-album “night walking,” and have steadily built a track record, including providing ending theme songs for the anime The Perfect Insider and BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS.
Drummer and vocalist Kumiko Hattori’s skillful playing and singing further enhance the richly narrative world of their songs.
Highly recommended for those who enjoy cinematic atmospheres and lyrical soundscapes!
