Many people say traveling is their hobby, right? So here’s a suggestion: make your own paper tags.

A paper tag is a marker you attach to luggage you take on a trip.

It can also refer to the brand tag attached to a product.

Either way, the appeal is that you can create a design full of originality.

There are various ways to make them, but I think an easy method is to decorate paper tags sold at 100-yen shops.

Adding flowers is a nice touch, too.

So many ways to use it! Why not try making an armband? As the name suggests, an armband is a band worn around the arm.

It’s commonly used to adjust the fit around the wrists of a dress shirt.

The method is quite simple: buy some elastic at a 100-yen shop, add decorations you like, and you’re done.

You can also make a felt motif and create a loop on the back for the elastic to pass through.

Once it’s finished, you can wear it on your arm, or attach it to jars and bottles as decoration.

Wreath made from copy paper

Wreath made from copy paper

This is a spring-perfect wreath inspired by double-flowered cherry blossoms, made by combining copy paper and paper cord.

Fold small, cut pieces of copy paper to create three-dimensional petals, then assemble them into the shape of double cherry blossoms.

Since the wreath will be arranged in a circle, it’s recommended to make flowers in multiple colors, such as white and pink.

The base of the wreath is made from paper cord—bundle and twist it, shaping it while keeping durability in mind.

Finally, attach the blossoms to the base and add decorations like ribbons to complete the wreath.

Pop-up card of cherry blossoms

Why not make a pop-up cherry blossom card to cheer on those celebrating graduation, starting school, or joining a company? It also makes a great room decoration, so give it a try! First, create three-dimensional cherry blossoms using construction paper.

After gluing the blossoms together in groups of two or three, attach them to a rectangular sheet of construction paper folded in half.

Add leaves cut from green paper to finish it off! If you arrange the cherry blossoms in a circle, you’ll have an open space in the center where you can write a message.

Depending on where you place the blossoms, it may be best to write your message first.

Hinamatsuri wreath

Hinamatsuri wreath

For those who want to display Hina dolls but don’t have much space, how about a Hinamatsuri wreath you can hang on a wall or door? Prepare round pom-poms in colors that evoke the festival, such as pink, green, and white.

First, thread the pom-poms onto wire to make the base of the wreath.

Next, using pom-poms along with other decorations, craft the Empress (Ohinasama) and Emperor (Odairisama).

If you’re expressing them as rabbits, attach ears made of felt or fabric scraps, and use beads or decorative tape for the eyes and nose.

Finally, thread string through the Empress and Emperor and attach them to the wreath base—and you’re done!
