She debuted as the youngest enka singer in history, and everyone was amazed by her prodigious vocal talent and poised demeanor.
I remember watching, mouth agape, at a performance that could put even adults to shame.
She was born in Obihiro, Hokkaido, and I hear her family runs a long-established local kappo (traditional Japanese cuisine) restaurant.
Hondana no Moyoko

A rock band formed by five members from Hokkaido.
True to the impression given by their curious band name, they play slightly surreal daydream pop.
Their charm lies in the twisted sensibility of ’90s pop and a catchiness laced with clever tricks!
the blondie plastic wagon

Formed in 1999 in Muroran, they are a rock band known for a rhythm section that lays down powerful dance beats and a one-of-a-kind singing voice.
Although they once went on hiatus, they resumed activities in 2015 after launching their own independent label.
Their songs are striking—addictive and unforgettable after just one listen.
Yoshida Kyōdai

Released in 2004, this song rapidly gained fame after being featured in an ASAHI SUPER DRY commercial.
It was created with the theme of fusing Tsugaru shamisen with rock, and despite being performed on a traditional instrument, it brims with energy and has earned high acclaim overseas.
Down the ValleyNOT WONK

Formed in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, NOT WONK is a three-piece band with a diverse musicality centered on punk rock.
They made their debut in 2015 with their first album, “Laughing Nerds And A Wallflower,” earning attention for their energetic live performances.
