SPEEDERIshida Shokichi (MOTORWORKS)

Shokichi Ishida, the vocalist of the rock band MOTORWORKS, is from Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and Akihiro Tamura, the bassist, is from Fujieda City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

Their first single, “SPEEDER,” was selected as the opening theme for TBS’s program COUNT DOWN TV.

Tamura is also active as a member of Spitz.

BecauseTsuchiya Masami (Ippūdō)

Masami Tsuchiya, the vocalist and guitarist of Ippu-Do known for hit songs such as “Sumire September Love,” is from Fuji City in Shizuoka Prefecture.

After Ippu-Do disbanded, he remained highly active, producing and writing songs for artists like BLANKEY JET CITY and GLAY, as well as pursuing his own solo career.

Grandfather’s 11 monthsKawaguchi Yoshiyuki (Kuricoder Quartet, Shibusa Shirazu)

Yoshiyuki Kawaguchi, who performs as a member of the music group Kuricorder Quartet, is from Hamamatsu City in Shizuoka Prefecture.

He plays a wide range of instruments, including the recorder, ukulele, and saxophone.

He is also active with the big band Shibusashirazu.

“Grandfather’s Eleven Months” is included on their fifth album, Flute Society.

Hirakawachi Icchome is a duo consisting of brothers Ryunosuke Hayashi and Naojiro Hayashi, both from Shizuoka Prefecture.

The duo’s name, Hirakawachi Icchome, comes from Hirakawachi in Shimizu City, Shizuoka, where they lived.

Their 3rd single, “Kimi no Bun Made,” reached No.

17 on the Oricon chart.

BlastMorikawa Yukio (ANTHEM)

Yukio Morikawa, who is active as the vocalist of the heavy metal band ANTHEM, is from Numazu City in Shizuoka Prefecture.

The digitally released single “Blast” was used as an insert song in the film Hentai Kamen (HK: Forbidden Super Hero).

Morikawa is also active with the hard rock band THE POWERNUDE.

Tenor singer Masahiro Shinba is from Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

He is the first Japanese recipient of the Maria Callas Prize, and he performed a solo rendition of the national anthem at the 2013 Autumn Tenno Sho of Japan Racing.

Active mainly in Japan and Italy, he was appointed a Kakegawa Hometown Goodwill Ambassador in 2006.

Miracle GirlMariko Nagai

Mariko Nagai, who broke through with songs like “Miracle Girl” and “ZUTTO,” is from Gotemba City in Shizuoka Prefecture.

At the time, she didn’t move to Tokyo to become a musician; she was actually aiming to become a nursery school teacher.

Although she paused her music activities for a period, she has since resumed, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of her debut.

Her anniversary concert tickets even sold out, showing her enduring popularity.
