Bands, Artists, and Singers from Tokushima Prefecture (11–20)
Love Dial 6700Shigemoto Kotori (Dream Five)

Dream5 is also known as the group that sang “Youkai Taisou Daiichi,” which was chosen as the ending theme for the anime Yo-kai Watch and sparked a huge boom.
One of its members and the group’s leader, Kotori Shigemoto, is from Komatsushima City in Tokushima Prefecture.
She embarked on a musical path after appearing on NHK’s Tensai TV-kun MAX.
A highly versatile talent, she was also active as a model and voice actress.
From 2016 onward, she worked as a solo singer, but retired from the entertainment industry in 2019.
STAR feat. WatsonT-STONE

The next-generation rapper T-STONE is also from Tokushima Prefecture.
He discovered rap in junior high school and began pursuing it seriously in high school.
His talent soon blossomed, and he went on to win the Tokushima Prefecture qualifiers for the MC battle “UMB” three years in a row.

AprilTakeichi Kazuki (mol-74)

Mol-74 is a Kyoto-based band known for its emotionally stirring, heartfelt style.
Their frontman, Kazuki Takeichi, hails from Tokushima Prefecture.
Especially for younger listeners, chances are you’ve heard “April” at least once—it’s a song that generated a lot of buzz on social media.
The gentle vocals that resonate throughout the track are a big part of Takeichi’s appeal; his singing feels as if it’s right there by your side.
By the way, the band’s drummer, Shihiro Bando, and Takeichi were classmates at a high school in Tokushima.
Begin Againsanari

Rapper Sanari, known for hits like “Prince” and “Begin Again,” hails from Tokushima.
He began uploading videos to YouTube in elementary school and started releasing original songs in his second year of junior high.
He made his major debut in 2018 with the single “Itazura.” He has also appeared in TV dramas and dating reality shows, so some of you may know him from those.
He’s an artist with a refreshing yet resolute singing voice.
Can’t Say Anything… SummerNakai Sukeroku (JAYWALK)

Sukeroku Nakauchi, the bassist of THE JAYWALK, hails from Tokushima Prefecture.
J-WALK was formed in 1980, and the following year they made their major-label debut with the single “JUST BECAUSE” and the album “Jay-Walk.” After releasing their smash hit “Nani mo Ienakute… Natsu,” they performed live not only in Japan but also in Hong Kong and China.
Nakauchi’s real given name is Masafumi, and he has also pursued a singing career in China under the Chinese reading of his name, “Yawen.” In 2018, an event titled “Sukeroku Suke Rock Nakauchi,” produced by Nakauchi himself and featuring THE JAYWALK, was also held.
SabbathTaishōdani Takashi (Plastic Tree)

Takashi Taishoya, known as a guitarist from Tokushima Prefecture, is a member of the rock band Plastic Tree, which was formed in December 1993.
The band made its major debut in 1997 and is known for its introspective worldview and UK rock-inspired sound.
Their shoegaze-influenced musical style is often described as something you’re “enveloped by” rather than simply “listen to.” Their gentle sound and wistful yet warm lyrical world are loved by a broad audience beyond visual kei fans.
In March 2021, Plastic Tree celebrated their 27th anniversary and continues to be highly active.
They’re a band highly recommended for fans of shoegaze and UK rock.

Padam PadamKaya

Kaya, a visual-kei singer and chanson artist from Tokushima Prefecture, is known for debuting on stage at the age of three and beginning to write lyrics at fourteen, reflecting a lifelong passion for music.
In 2002, Kaya launched activities with Schwarz Stein, a unit produced by Mana of MALICE MIZER.
Resuming solo work in 2006, Kaya has created a unique style that fuses visual-kei and chanson, producing a diverse body of songs that transcend gender and genre.
Live performances craft an extraordinary, otherworldly atmosphere that captivates audiences.
The recent album ROSE distills Kaya’s musical identity, featuring tracks across a range of genres including chanson.
Pursuing a singular aesthetic in both fashion and performance, Kaya continues to enchant many fans with multifaceted talent.
