SWEAROkamura Kento, Fukushima Yuu (Half-Life)
Half-Life is a three-piece rock band based in Shibuya.
The vocalist-bassist Kento Okamura and the vocalist-drummer Yuu Fukushima are also from Tokushima Prefecture.
They formed the band in Canada in 2000 and expanded to Japan in 2005.
After making their indie debut in 2009, they drew attention and soon made their major-label debut.

Dick Mine, born in Tokushima Prefecture, is known as a pioneer of jazz, blues, and popular songs in Japan.
In the 1930s, he brought a fresh breeze to the Japanese music scene, winning new fans with a style that clearly differed from traditional Japanese music.
He produced hits such as “Futari wa Wakai” and “Hatoba Garasu,” contributing to Teichiku Records’ rise as a major label.
He was also active in Japanese-language covers of foreign songs, leaving a significant mark on the prewar jazz scene.
In 1933, he even performed on the Korean Peninsula under the name “Sam Uyeol,” showcasing his versatility.

This is the main theme song from the 2000 TV drama “Yamato Nadeshiko,” which starred Nanako Matsushima and achieved high ratings.
The composer, Norihito Sumitomo, is from Komatsushima City in Tokushima Prefecture.

Passage of Early SpringTanaka Yoko
Yoko Tanaka, who won the Grand Prix at events such as the 1989 HoriPro Talent Scout Caravan and made her idol debut the following year, is from Tokushima City in Tokushima Prefecture.
Her debut song, “Passage of Early Spring,” became the theme song for the TV anime “Yokoso Yoko.”

Manami Kurose, who spent her childhood from ages 3 to 13 in Tokushima Prefecture, won the Grand Prix at a Toho audition in 2006 and made her acting debut.

Rapper CO-KEY, from Mima City in Tokushima Prefecture, debuted in 1998.
He discovered hip-hop in junior high school and started rapping and dancing.
His debut mini-album “Sanmenkyo” sold about 30,000 copies and won Best New Artist of 1998 from the hip-hop magazine blast.
CO-KEY has also released songs that incorporate local Tokushima culture, such as “Awa Bounce!” which arranges the rhythms of Awa Odori.
In 2010, he formed the production unit mc^2 with track maker MAST.
Their collaboration track with JAY’ED achieved major success, landing five tie-ins.
