At the 2018 Koshien tournament, Osaka Toin Junior and Senior High School performed “The Greatest Showman” as their cheering song.
This is a song featured within the musical film The Greatest Showman.
With a sound that clearly contrasts stillness and motion, it served to heighten the circus performances in the movie.
Incidentally, since the lyrics center on the theme of passion in pursuing one’s dreams, that may be why it was chosen.

Limit-Break x SurvivorHikawa Kiyoshi
This is Kiyoshi Hikawa’s exhilarating rock number.
Chosen as the theme song for the anime Dragon Ball Super, the track features lyrics that, befitting a shonen manga theme, portray a bold, straight-ahead determination to take on challenges.
It drew attention because Kiyoshi Hikawa, known for his career as an enka singer, delivered a rock-style song.

Tenri Fanfare
Do you know that famous fanfare that rings out in the stands at Koshien? It’s the tune that blares triumphantly on the trumpet the moment a batter hits a single—a short piece that serves as the unmistakable signal for scoring.
Despite its brevity, the bold melody instantly lifts the listener’s spirits, almost like magic that swings the momentum of the game! The fanfare originated with Tenri High School’s band, and while the original source had long been unknown, in 2016 it was revealed to be based on the Overture to “Maxim Caci,” which became a hot topic.
When you hear it at a critical turning point, it’s sure to fire up the players’ fighting spirit!
Smoke on the WaterDeep Purple
First off, this rock classic—whose instantly recognizable intro is often cited in music history alongside the Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night” and the Beach Boys’ “California Girls” as having one of the most famous intros in rock—is a song almost everyone has heard.
Dynamic RyukyuIkuma Akira
A track by Akira Ikuma included on the 2015 release Spirit of Carnival.
It drew attention after Sendai Ikuei High School used it as a cheer song at the summer Koshien baseball tournament.
From the title alone, you can already feel the power it gives.
It has become a staple for Okinawan taiko performances and modernized kumiodori, with a beautifully flowing melody, danceable rhythm, and a majestic sound that feels fresh and brings you back to a beginner’s mindset.
Its distinctly Japanese atmosphere and dynamic energy are truly uplifting!
SunriseKEYTALK
KEYTALK, a danceable rock band, had their song “Sunrise” chosen as a tie-in track for the game Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball.
Member Yagi also has experience playing baseball, so I think the band has a strong connection to the sport.
It’s a track that gives you energy with its positive lyrics about charging ahead and its exhilarating, high-speed sound! By the way, member Shuto has also heaped praise on “Kassē! Pawapuro,” which is featured in this article.
Since it was released in 2020, it seems likely to grow in popularity as a cheer song from here on out!
miracleSuga Shikao
Shikao Suga, who has produced numerous classic songs, wrote “Kiseki” as the theme song for the 2015 National High School Baseball Championship broadcast.
It’s an upbeat support song themed around the miracles that happen on the Koshien mound.
However, with its mid-tempo sound reminiscent of Eurobeat, it also gives a relaxed impression while remaining passionate.
It’s perfect for cooling down after the excitement.
Incidentally, the single also includes the ending theme, “Natsukage.”
