Three-dimensional carnations made with origami: A collection of simple and cute ideas (11–20)
Carnations made by rolling and swirling
https://www.tiktok.com/@miko.labo/video/7370246402414333191The making process is fun! Here’s how to make a carnation by rolling it up.
First, fold the origami paper in half into a square and open it, then fold the top and bottom edges to meet the center line.
Next, fold it in half again along the center line.
Now fold it in half horizontally.
Then, make lots of small cuts from the bottom upward.
After making the cuts, open the paper and cut it in half.
Finally, apply glue to the edge without cuts, and wrap it around the origami stem, rolling it up to finish.
Shape and spread the petals while imagining a carnation.
This craft is perfect for kids to practice using scissors, so give it a try together with everyone!

Let’s make a cute and pop-style carnation using origami! The steps are simple, so it’s easy for kids to try, too.
First, cut the origami paper into quarters.
Fold it into a square twice, then fold it in half again to make a triangle.
Use pinking scissors to cut along the outer, fluttery edge.
Next, unfold the paper and make slits toward the center, then use double-sided tape to stick the slit parts so they form a round shape.
Make another one the same way and stack them.
The key is to attach them with double-sided tape so there’s a slight difference in how open each layer is.
Finally, curl the tip of a green chenille stem (pipe cleaner), then thread it from the opposite end through the center of the paper—and you’re done! Using different materials and patterns to make a bouquet will look super cute.
Pop-up carnation card

Would you like to make a pop-up card that opens to reveal carnations? All you need is the card base and two sheets of origami paper.
First, cut the pink and green origami sheets into four equal parts.
You’ll use four pink pieces and one green piece.
Save the remaining pieces to make the stem and leaves.
Fold the origami diagonally into a triangle three times, then fold the top-right edge down to align with the bottom edge.
Using pinking shears, round off the side opposite the pointed tip.
Open the paper, make small cuts, and accordion-fold along the creases.
Make the remaining four pieces the same way, then attach them at the center of the card base to form the carnation.
Finally, add the stem and leaves, write your message, and you’re done!

Let me show you how to make a gift carnation.
Start by trimming the edges of the tissue paper, then open up the sheets one by one so they stand up.
This will add volume and create a cute carnation.
Roll green origami paper into a tube to make the stem.
Attach the flower and stem together.
Then glue the carnation onto a piece of wrapping cardstock that you’ve pre-shaped with a gentle curve, add your message, and you’re done! It’s also recommended to decorate it cutely with a ribbon or stickers.
Give it a try!
Carnations you can make in 5 minutes

Here’s an idea for making a carnation with a single sheet of origami paper! I think kids can fold it too, so give it a try.
First, fold the origami paper into a triangle twice.
Then open up the two pockets and flatten them to make a square.
Next, open and flatten all four pocket sections.
Flip one flattened section over, and fold down the triangular part that remains at the top.
There are four of these, so fold all of them down the same way.
Fold the paper in half along the vertical center line, and use an inside reverse fold on the pointed part.
Finally, open up the other side into a flower shape, and you’re done!
Carnation wreath

Perfect for Mother’s Day! Here’s a festive carnation wreath idea.
Stack four pieces of origami paper cut into circles with pinking shears to make one carnation.
Take three of the cut pieces and shape them three-dimensionally by placing them over a thick pen.
Place the remaining piece over something thin like a bamboo skewer and squeeze it tightly.
Stack the four pieces with the last one on top and glue them together, and you’ll have a carnation that looks just like the real thing! Make ten of these, attach them to a wreath base, and add leaves to fill the gaps between the flowers to finish.

Carnations that are also easy to use in bouquets

Let’s make a 3D carnation out of origami.
First, prepare four pieces of origami cut into circles using pinking shears.
Crease all four pieces with radial folds, then use an awl or hole punch to make a hole in the center.
Place the origami onto a bamboo skewer and scrunch it tightly to give it a three-dimensional shape, then thread all four pieces onto the skewer and glue them in place.
Wrap the skewer with green origami paper, attach a folded paper leaf, and you’re done! Make several and wrap them with wrapping paper, and they’ll look like a bouquet!
