Let me show you how to make a gift carnation.

Start by trimming the edges of the tissue paper, then open up the sheets one by one so they stand up.

This will add volume and create a cute carnation.

Roll green origami paper into a tube to make the stem.

Attach the flower and stem together.

Then glue the carnation onto a piece of wrapping cardstock that you’ve pre-shaped with a gentle curve, add your message, and you’re done! It’s also recommended to decorate it cutely with a ribbon or stickers.

Give it a try!

Let me introduce a beautiful jagged-edged carnation.

Start by cutting a sheet of origami paper into quarters.

Fold a quarter piece into a triangle twice, then cut one tip along a curved line.

Use scissors to make small triangular notches at the tip to give the petals movement.

Make the remaining three pieces the same way.

Thread each petal onto a wire stem and glue them together, adding volume to create a three-dimensional carnation.

Finally, attach the leaves to finish! It would make a lovely gift paired with a message.

Easy carnation you can make with just one sheet of origami

How about making a cute, plump-shaped carnation? Believe it or not, you can make it with just one sheet of origami! Since you’ll be repeatedly opening and flattening square and triangular pockets, the key is to crease each fold carefully and firmly from edge to edge.

There are quite a few intricate steps, so pay close attention to the orientation and sides of the paper as you go.

If you make lots in different colors, they’ll look absolutely adorable.

Give it a try!

Carnations you can make in 5 minutes

[Origami] Easy in 5 minutes! Make a carnation with a single sheet of origami 💐 Mother’s Day 2025 is Sunday, May 11
Carnations you can make in 5 minutes

Here’s an idea for making a carnation with a single sheet of origami paper! I think kids can fold it too, so give it a try.

First, fold the origami paper into a triangle twice.

Then open up the two pockets and flatten them to make a square.

Next, open and flatten all four pocket sections.

Flip one flattened section over, and fold down the triangular part that remains at the top.

There are four of these, so fold all of them down the same way.

Fold the paper in half along the vertical center line, and use an inside reverse fold on the pointed part.

Finally, open up the other side into a flower shape, and you’re done!

Carnations that are easy to arrange and use

Carnations that are easy to arrange and use

Here’s a recommended idea for those who want to arrange and use carnations.

These have flat bottoms, making them easy to incorporate as wreath motifs, accents in projects, or frame decorations.

Cut four circles from origami paper using pinking shears.

Shape three of them by placing each over a thick pen or similar tool to create a 3D form.

Place the remaining one over a thin stick like a bamboo skewer and squeeze it tightly.

Stack the four pieces with the last one on top, and your carnation is complete.

For a more realistic carnation look, score radial fold lines on the circles after cutting them.

Perfect for Mother’s Day! Here’s a festive carnation wreath idea.

Stack four pieces of origami paper cut into circles with pinking shears to make one carnation.

Take three of the cut pieces and shape them three-dimensionally by placing them over a thick pen.

Place the remaining piece over something thin like a bamboo skewer and squeeze it tightly.

Stack the four pieces with the last one on top and glue them together, and you’ll have a carnation that looks just like the real thing! Make ten of these, attach them to a wreath base, and add leaves to fill the gaps between the flowers to finish.

Carnations to cut and combine

Here’s how to make cut-and-assemble carnations out of origami.

Fold the origami paper into quarters, then fold it once more horizontally and cut the paper along a curved line.

Use scissors to make fine slits along the top of the petals to create the carnation’s jagged petal edges.

Open one panel at a time and cut a slit toward the center.

As you work, fold to give the petals a three-dimensional shape.

Prepare three identical carnation petal pieces.

Roll a sheet of origami paper to make the stem, then attach the petals one by one.

Add folded leaves, and your three-dimensional carnation is complete! Wrapping it and decorating with a ribbon could make it even cuter.
