Ball-Gritty Old Man

Inosuke Hashibira, known for giving people distinctive nicknames, calls Gyomei Himejima 'Jade Jingly Old Man.' This nickname comes from the way he carries his prayer beads. It’s one of the episodes that really shows Inosuke’s natural, humorous personality.

The pattern on Tanjiro Kamado’s kimono is called “ichimatsu.” Ichimatsu is a design consisting of alternating squares made in two colors. The emblems for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, held in 2021, were created using this ichimatsu pattern as a motif.

Kanao Tsuyuri

Shinobu Kocho’s Tsuguko is Kanao Tsuyuri. A Tsuguko is someone whom a Hashira personally trains to become a Demon Slayer. Kanao was taken in by the Kocho family and learned a great deal from Shinobu and her older sister, Kanae Kocho. Growing up under Shinobu and Kanae was a major factor in the development Kanao shows throughout the story.

Suma, Hinatsuru, and Maki

The Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui, has three wives: Suma, Hinatsuru, and Makio. Originally, both Tengen Uzui and his three wives were shinobi, and in the Entertainment District Arc they fought alongside Tengen to eradicate demons. Each of the three is a charming character brimming with individuality.

97th generation

Kagaya Ubuyashiki, who oversees the Demon Slayer Corps members, is the 97th head of the Corps. Called “Oyakata-sama” by the members, he suffers from a severe illness and is blind. From the story, you can sense that he cherishes the Corps members as if they were his own children.

charcoal seller

Before joining the Demon Slayer Corps, Tanjiro Kamado worked as a charcoal seller with no involvement with demons. While he was away from home to sell charcoal, a tragedy occurred in which demons attacked his family. From there begins Tanjiro Kamado’s journey to slay demons and to restore his younger sister, Nezuko, to human form.

During the Final Selection of the Demon Slayer Corps, Giyu Tomioka did not defeat a single demon. Because his peer Sabito defeated many demons and protected the other survivors, all of their cohort—except for him—became members without having to slay any demons themselves. Additionally, Giyu was injured by the first demon he encountered and remained unconscious for about seven days. This episode is portrayed as very important for understanding Giyu’s past and personality, as well as his relationship with Sabito.

Daki, the Upper Rank Six demon, lives disguised among humans in the pleasure district as an oiran under the name Warabihime. She captivates people with her beauty and popularity while secretly operating as a demon behind the scenes. This becomes an important plot point and a key clue when Tanjiro and his companions infiltrate the district.

Genya Shinazugawa is a rare character in the story who uses a gun. He fights demons not only with a Nichirin sword but also by skillfully wielding a gun made from special materials. It’s noteworthy that the gun is designed specifically for slaying demons, and that his fighting style differs from that of his older brother, Sanemi.

Beef Hot Pot Bento

One of Kyojuro Rengoku’s iconic moments in the Mugen Train arc is when he eats a “gyu-nabe bento” (beef hot pot bento) while exclaiming, “Delicious!” In episode 1 of the anime, Flame Hashira: Kyojuro Rengoku, which complements the film, the gyu-nabe bento appears as a thank-you gift from a bento vendor grandmother and her granddaughter whom he helped. It is depicted as an item that symbolizes his character.
