She began her singing career in Japan in 1974, debuting in the idol kayōkyoku style, but sales were lackluster.

After switching to the enka kayōkyoku style, however, her second single, “Kūkō” (Airport), became a major hit, winning the Best New Artist Award at the 16th Japan Record Awards and elevating her to top-star status in Japan.

Sung by Anson Lo, a member of MIRROR, Hong Kong’s first major idol group, “The Uncute Cult Leader” is his sixth solo single.

It was chosen as the ending theme for the Hong Kong remake of TV Asahi’s famed drama Ossan’s Love, titled “Uncle’s Love,” in which he also appears in the Japanese Maki Ryota-equivalent role.

It’s a sincere, bittersweet love song that sings, “I miss you when you’re not here.” Centered on an acoustic sound, its gently mellow atmosphere suits the season as the weather turns a bit chilly.
