A lot of great music is coming out of Taiwan, too.

You’ll find plenty of tracks with a city-pop vibe and songs featuring standout vocals.

From veteran singers to must-watch up-and-coming acts, we’ll cover a wide range.

Taiwan’s Golden Melody Awards—the country’s equivalent of the Grammys—are a lot of fun, and you might even discover artists who already feel familiar to Japanese listeners.

With the addition of female member Mandark to their predecessor band Natural Q Voice, this five-piece was formed in Tainan in 2016.

Their hallmark is the male–female twin vocals.

In 2018, their debut album “Dear” garnered recognition at Taiwan’s “Golden Melody Awards,” the local equivalent of the Grammys.

Some members draw influence from R&B and jazz, giving their music a chic, smooth sound that’s easy on the ears and evokes a variety of sonic scenes.

The technical side that underpins their whispery mood may reflect the intentions of guitarist Can Tou, a devoted fan of Ringo Sheena and Tokyo Jihen.

Highly recommended for listeners who enjoy city pop or laid-back tunes!
