Make Your Christmas Party a Hit! A Collection of Game Ideas for Large Groups (51–60)
Long-straw speed drinking showdown

When it comes to Christmas parties, drinks are a must, right? You probably prepare a variety of beverages like tea and juice.
How about using those drinks for a fun group game: a long-straw speed-drinking contest? You can find unusually shaped straws—much thinner and longer than regular ones—at variety shops.
Because they’re so thin and long, you need strong suction, and it’s surprisingly hard to drink a large amount!
Prince Shōtoku game

This is the “Prince Shōtoku Game,” named after the legend that Prince Shōtoku could listen to many people at once.
Choose one person to be the answerer, and without letting that person know, everyone else decides what sentence they will say.
Then everyone speaks at the same time.
The answerer tries to listen carefully and guess who said what.
The more people there are, the harder it gets, so try using simple words and sentences.
Nine Tiles

Let me introduce a card game called “Nine Tiles.” As the name suggests, it’s a game where you complete a layout using nine tiles.
However, the nine cards you hold have different patterns, and each card has a different design on the front and back.
You draw a sample card from the deck that shows the target pattern, then flip and rearrange your own cards to match the sample.
The first person to complete the pattern takes the sample card and earns points.
If you make a false start or arrange your cards incorrectly, you lose points.
Do-Re-Mi Song Game

It’s a game where you sing the Do-Re-Mi song in order, which everyone knows.
You just sing normally, but there’s a rule: you have to sing the designated note.
For example, if the person who sang “Do” is told to sing “So,” they have to skip from “Re,” jump over “Fa,” and sing “So.” It’s surprisingly hard to hit the right pitch, which makes it tricky.
The more people you have, the more fun it gets, so be sure to try it at your Christmas party!
Lyrics hijacking game

It’s a game where you hijack lyrics from the song the previous person is singing by picking out a matching phrase, then keep linking songs one after another.
You can play with as few as two people, but it’s also fun with a large group.
It’s a simple and easy game, but surprisingly challenging.
