[Origami] Christmas Tree

Origami is a popular activity in early childhood education, isn’t it? For December, Christmas trees with festive motifs are highly recommended.

Both adults and children can get excited to see how unique each tree turns out! This design lets you try bag folds and some finer folding techniques.

Teachers, be sure to fold along with the kids.

Finish by adding lots of cute decorations to create a tree full of originality! If you’re making a wall display, create many in different colors to make it lively.

Bells are a classic Christmas motif, and you often see them as ornaments on Christmas trees.

So let’s include Christmas bells in your wall decorations, too! The method introduced here uses standard 15 cm square origami paper, and as a guideline, children aged four and up should be able to try it.

Decorating a large Christmas tree wall display with bells folded by the children will make it look bright and festive.

If teachers are making them, we also recommend arranging them together with other classic Christmas motifs like holly and ribbons.

Wreath made with glitter garland

Here’s how to make a Christmas wreath out of chenille stems (pipe cleaners), perfect for holiday decorations! You can get all the materials at a 100-yen shop.

You’ll need four 20 cm pipe cleaners, decorative pipe cleaners or ornaments, and a straw or thin pen about 0.5 cm in diameter.

To make it, first wrap a pipe cleaner around the straw or pen.

Leave small gaps between the coils, then slide it off.

Make three of these.

Thread all three onto the remaining pipe cleaner, then make a loop at the top and enjoy adding a bow with a pipe cleaner and other decorations.

Christmas present

When it comes to what children look forward to at Christmas, it’s presents.

That’s why I’d like to introduce a wall decoration featuring Christmas presents.

It looks cute on its own on the wall, and it’s easy to pair with Christmas tree or Santa Claus wall decorations.

There are many ways to make it, but I recommend creating the ribbon part first and attaching it afterward.

That way, it will have a more three-dimensional finish.

Why not make several in different colors while imagining how happy the children will be?
