Dramatic RainKOPO

A danceable city pop song that sings, “Even in an unchanging, boring everyday life, as long as you’re there, that’s enough.” It’s a track by Vocaloid producer KOPO, released in 2021.
Centered on a funky bassline, it unfolds a stylish sound—and within that lively sonic landscape, you can feel a touch of wistfulness, making it a wonderfully deep piece.
Miku’s cute vocals match the mood perfectly.
Be sure to turn up the volume and give it a listen.
DuDiDuWa*lalalaKOTOKO

This is the song that was used as the ending theme for the anime Magical Girl Squad Alice, which aired within NHK Educational’s Tensai Bit-kun.
The singer is KOTOKO, who was also active as a vocalist for I’ve, a creator team that produces music for anime, games, and films.
Her charming, youthful-sounding voice is striking, isn’t it? While the overall feel of the track isn’t scary or eerie like Halloween, the lyrics—centered on the theme of a magical girl—leave a strong impression.
The positive message woven into the song is another highlight!
Please, let these words not take root.kyiku

An emotionally rich work that explores the power of words that linger in the heart.
Composed by Kyiku and released in September 2024, it features Nurse Robo Type T and Shiro Nenene on vocals.
Characterized by an emotional, heartfelt melody, the lyrics convey deep feelings about love, connection, and self-expression.
While emphasizing the warmth of words and the importance of existence, it also expresses loneliness and the desire to connect with others—making it perfect for those who struggle to put their feelings into words.
Driver`s HighL’Arc〜en〜Ciel

A cool guitar sound becomes the shot in the arm you need to charge forward! This is a song by L’Arc~en~Ciel, a rock band that has been at the forefront of the Japanese music scene for years, released in 1999 as their 17th single.
It was used as the opening theme for the anime GTO.
The driving tempo, the grand scale of the lyrics, and hyde’s sultry vocals—every aspect is captivating.
If you want to crank up your energy with a rock track, this is the one!
MonodramaLAY

Zhang Yixing, known as Lay, is a dancer, singer-songwriter, and actor born in 1991 in Changsha, Hunan Province.
He is well-known as a member of the K-pop boy group EXO, which debuted in 2012.
He is famously disciplined and responsible—he once said to his members, “If you’re not going to practice, then leave.” He loved music from a young age and is said to have an ability somewhere between relative pitch and perfect pitch.
Since establishing his personal studio in 2015, he has been highly active in China.
In 2016, he released his first solo track, Monodrama (独角戏), which he wrote, composed, and arranged himself.
In 2018, he made his U.S.
debut with his second album, NAMANANA, which reached No.
21 on Billboard—the highest ranking for a Chinese singer at the time.
In 2019, he also attended the red carpet event of the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.
He has consistently released solo works.
Lay is characterized by top-tier dance skills that are both powerful and fluid, along with a sweet vocal tone.
As a solo artist with a K-pop background thriving in China, he could be called a pioneer among artists of his kind.
DREAMERLAZY

Lazy is the legendary band known for including members such as Hironobu Kageyama—later called the “Prince of Anisong”—and Akira Takasaki and Munetaka Higuchi, who would go on to form Loudness and gain worldwide fame.
They even borrowed their name from a Deep Purple song, and, aiming for authentic hard rock, debuted in their teens.
However, Lazy was marketed as an idol-style band, and while their 1978 single ‘Akaokami-chan Goyōjin’ became a hit and made them a household name, the members themselves struggled with a musical direction that differed from their true tastes.
Even so, they leaned more heavily into hard rock as their career progressed, and their 1980 “Heavy Metal Declaration” is a well-known episode.
In the end, differences in musical direction led to their breakup, but when you consider that without this band there might have been no Loudness and no array of wonderful anisong tracks, you can’t help but see them as a truly great band.

dawnLIGHTERS

The female artist group LIGHTERS specializes in indie sounds, and all their works have a distinctive, gentle haze.
Among their songs, the latest track I especially recommend is “dawn.” You can hear subtle, thoughtful touches throughout—vocal effects, guitar riffs, drum patterns—and many listeners will feel like they’re listening to Western music.
If you like indie pop or alternative, be sure to check it out.
