snow globe

A snow globe packed with a dreamy little world is soothing just to look at, isn’t it? If you think making one sounds hard, this method is exactly what I want you to try! Using a jar you can even find at a 100-yen shop, glue your favorite decorations to the inside.
Next, fill the jar about halfway with water, then pour liquid glue in up to the very top of the jar’s opening.
To finish, add your choice of glitter or sparkles, close the lid, and you’re done! When adding the glitter, the trick is to stir with a chopstick to avoid introducing air.
It also makes a great gift for your grandchild, so why not try it during your time at home?
seashell strap

The cute, rounded silhouette is irresistible! Here are some ideas for seashell straps.
These charming accessories make great keepsakes or handmade gifts.
They may look difficult, but they’re actually simple and easy to make—give it a try.
You’ll need two fabric scraps, a cord, seashells, a bell, glue, scissors, a toothpick, and paper.
Matching seashell straps also make a lovely gift for someone special.
You can attach one to a bag or pouch as a good-luck charm, too.
Macrame keychain woven in two colors

We’d like to introduce an idea that features the warm, hand-knit feel of macramé: the “Two-Color Braided Macramé Keychain.” After preparing a bag hook, tie four pieces of rope to it.
Braid the ropes while alternating the two colors and shaping the form as you go.
Tie a knot in the center, trim the ends evenly, and it’s done.
Because it involves only safe braiding work, it’s recommended both as a recreation activity in senior facilities and as a finger dexterity exercise.
Be sure to use your favorite colors and create a piece that suits your taste!

Cute nameplate

Here’s a cute nameplate idea using felt, buttons, and lace.
Use a plastic nameplate as the base, and first cut felt in your favorite color to match its size.
Cut out the center, leaving about a 1 cm border, then attach it to the nameplate.
Add decorations like buttons, lace tape, or ribbons on top, and it’s done.
By decorating each one as you like, you can create a unique, personalized nameplate.
Straw hat brooch

Let’s reuse plastic bottle caps to make a dreamy “straw hat brooch”! It might evoke a nostalgic feeling for older adults.
Cut a circle out of thick paper and glue the cap onto it to create the base of the straw hat.
Next, attach jute twine in your favorite color onto the base.
Since it involves delicate work, it doubles as good finger dexterity training.
Add a ribbon as a decoration for a lovely touch! Finally, sew a brooch pin onto a circle of felt and glue it to the back of the hat to finish.
Making matching ones with friends might be a real delight.
Shaker bookmark

Shaker bookmarks that are fun to tuck into a book make reading time even more enjoyable.
They’re great for yourself, and would surely delight a grandchild as a gift.
Decorate a piece of cardstock in your preferred size with stickers.
Place the cardstock into an OPP (cellophane) bag that’s larger than the cardstock, then cut it down leaving a margin.
Fold the excess flap over and neatly hide it with washi tape; add sequins inside, and you’ve got a shakety-shake bookmark that’s a joy to use.
If you prepare a selection so people can freely choose which stickers and which sequins to combine, they’ll have even more fun!
A bookmark you can customize with stickers

Let’s try making stylish bookmarks using flake stickers! You can find flake stickers at stationery stores, online shops, and even 100-yen shops, so it’s fun to look for designs you like.
If you’re incorporating this into activities at a senior facility, prepare multiple designs and let each person choose their favorite.
Arrange the stickers on a plain card.
Using tweezers makes delicate work easier, so give it a try.
Once you’ve placed the stickers to match your preferred image, trim the shape and tie a ribbon.
These chic bookmarks make perfect gifts!
