Lucky bean cheese rice crackers

You can even make a classic Japanese snack, senbei, at home.
First, line a heatproof plate with parchment paper and place shredded pizza cheese on top.
Space them out a little as if you’re making several senbei.
Next, put soybeans on the cheese and heat as is.
Once it has cooled slightly, it will firm up like a senbei.
Sprinkle with aonori (green seaweed flakes) to finish.
This time we used soybeans with Setsubun in mind, but you can have fun topping them with other ingredients, too.
Give it your own twist!
Oni Cookies

These are ogre-themed cookies whose charm lies in the satisfying feel of cutting out the dough.
First, make the base dough.
As usual, mix eggs, cake flour, and baking powder.
Then chill it in the refrigerator and you’re ready to go.
Next, use your favorite cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
We recommend cutters like an ogre’s face or an ogre’s spiked club.
There are many products available, so try finding cutters you like.
By the way, be careful not to overbake, as the patterns can get blurred.

Marshmallow mousse

Let’s try making a marshmallow mousse that’s smooth on the palate, subtly sweet, and delicious.
Just put fluffy marshmallows in a saucepan, heat and stir, add milk, then transfer to containers and chill in the refrigerator until set—an elegant dessert is ready.
With only these few ingredients, it’s fun and easy for everyone from small children to older adults.
The sweet aroma spreads as you make it, making it perfect for recreational activities in care facilities, too.
If you shape the leftover unmelted marshmallows into little snowmen and place them on the mousse, you can achieve a café-style presentation.
Steamed sweet potato bread

How about sweet potato steamed muffins for a snack activity at a senior care facility? Cut washed sweet potatoes with the skin on into 1 cm cubes, then soak them in water to remove bitterness.
In a bowl, combine pancake mix, eggs, sugar, and milk, and mix well.
Using pancake mix makes it easy to prepare snacks, so it’s perfect for these activities.
Line molds with paper cups, add the microwaved sweet potato pieces and the batter.
Steam-bake in a frying pan for about 15 minutes, and they’re ready.
Sweet potatoes contain calcium to help strengthen bones, dietary fiber to support gut health, and potassium to reduce swelling, making them a great ingredient for older adults!
Chocolate mousse

Did you know you can make chocolate mousse with just chocolate and water? Melt the chocolate with water in the microwave, then use a hand mixer to whip air into it as you mix.
Once it comes together and thickens, transfer it to containers and chill.
That’s it—you’re done.
It’s incredibly simple, yet makes a dessert that feels a bit different.
Adding fruit like bananas or berries inside can give it a more luxurious touch.
Top with whipped cream.
It’s also a great option when you want a quick snack and don’t have many ingredients on hand.
Fruit Lollipop

When you eat fruit, why not make fruit lollipops that are stylish, cute, and keep your hands clean? Just stack your favorite fruits using cutters to punch out shapes, then skewer them with a bamboo stick—done.
If you think about the order of the layers, they’ll look like candy or popsicles, giving them a pop and super-cute appearance.
Serving them stuck into finely crushed ice lets you enjoy the fruit cold, too.
Depending on the type of fruit, you might even be able to freeze them.
Gâteau au chocolat (chocolate cake)

When people think of baked sweets, they often seem difficult and intimidating, but you can easily make them using a microwave for the heating.
Melt butter and broken-up chocolate in the microwave.
Crack in an egg, then sift in cake flour and baking powder.
Mix everything together, then heat it in the microwave, and you’re done.
It’s fluffy when freshly made, but if you let it sit, the batter firms up.
Making sweets in the microwave is easy and eliminates the risk of fire, so give it a try at home.
