Easy Strawberry Pudding

Strawberries are in season in March and April.
These days, you often see strawberries in supermarkets starting in winter, but originally their peak season is spring, around March and April.
Let’s use those strawberries to make strawberry pudding.
If you use Fruiche—the dessert mix that thickens like yogurt when you add milk—it’s easy to make.
Dissolve gelatin in milk, add it to the Fruiche mix, and stir.
Pour it into molds and chill in the refrigerator for about an hour, and it will set like pudding.
Topping it with strawberries to your liking makes it look nice and delicious.
Some older adults may have made Fruiche at home before.
Red bean and cheese hotteok

How about trying “anko cheese hotteok,” where the sweetness of red bean paste and the saltiness of cheese create a wonderfully exquisite balance? Hotteok is a traditional snack that’s popular at Korean street stalls.
Some older adults may not be familiar with it, so this is a great chance to try a new flavor! It’s very easy to make.
Put the ingredients in a bowl and knead until there’s no dry flour left.
Since we’re using pancake mix, it’s nice that you can make it with just a few ingredients.
Wrap smooth red bean paste and cheese in the dough, seal it tightly, and then cook it.
Using a griddle lets you enjoy the cooking process, too.
Relax and enjoy the soothing combination of gooey, melty cheese and sweet anko!

Marshmallow mousse

Let’s try making a marshmallow mousse that’s smooth on the palate, subtly sweet, and delicious.
Just put fluffy marshmallows in a saucepan, heat and stir, add milk, then transfer to containers and chill in the refrigerator until set—an elegant dessert is ready.
With only these few ingredients, it’s fun and easy for everyone from small children to older adults.
The sweet aroma spreads as you make it, making it perfect for recreational activities in care facilities, too.
If you shape the leftover unmelted marshmallows into little snowmen and place them on the mousse, you can achieve a café-style presentation.

This is a super simple way to make round chocolates.
The idea uses the popular snack “Choco Pie.” First, put it in a bowl and mash it with a fork while mixing.
Next, add milk, and when it turns sticky, shape it into balls.
You’ll have little round chocolates.
Then, sprinkle on toppings or decorate as you like.
You can also change up the flavor with whipped cream or cocoa powder.
Since there’s no cooking involved, it’s easy and hassle-free to try.
Lucky bean cheese rice crackers

You can even make a classic Japanese snack, senbei, at home.
First, line a heatproof plate with parchment paper and place shredded pizza cheese on top.
Space them out a little as if you’re making several senbei.
Next, put soybeans on the cheese and heat as is.
Once it has cooled slightly, it will firm up like a senbei.
Sprinkle with aonori (green seaweed flakes) to finish.
This time we used soybeans with Setsubun in mind, but you can have fun topping them with other ingredients, too.
Give it your own twist!
Easy demon Baumkuchen

An easy-to-make Oni Baumkuchen is also recommended.
First, prepare a store-bought Swiss roll cake.
Cut it into bite-sized wedge-shaped pieces.
Next, use whipped cream for the hair and a chocolate pen to draw the face.
At this point, it should already start looking like an ogre.
For the finishing touch, place an Apollo chocolate on top of the head, and it’s done.
If you change the color of the cake, you could make a red ogre too.
The fun part is drawing a variety of facial expressions.
Try making your very own Oni Baumkuchen.
Oni Cookies

These are ogre-themed cookies whose charm lies in the satisfying feel of cutting out the dough.
First, make the base dough.
As usual, mix eggs, cake flour, and baking powder.
Then chill it in the refrigerator and you’re ready to go.
Next, use your favorite cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
We recommend cutters like an ogre’s face or an ogre’s spiked club.
There are many products available, so try finding cutters you like.
By the way, be careful not to overbake, as the patterns can get blurred.
