Fold the paper in half into a triangle twice, then squash the pocket to make two overlapping squares.

On both sides, fold the left and right edges on the connected side of the origami toward the center line, then fold up the corner that is the center of the paper.

Next, roundly cut around the folded-up corner, open it, and press it into a flower shape to finish.

Be careful not to cut off the folded-up corner.

I’ll show you how to fold an easy lotus flower using a single sheet of origami paper.

First, crease the paper once into a square and twice into a triangle.

Fold it twice using the “zabuton” (cushion) base, then flip it over and fold the “zabuton” base again.

Open it up and turn it to the front, then fold the four inner corners outward so that they align with the top crease.

Flip it over once more, and fold the four protruding corners up toward the center so they stand up.

Finally, fold the edges of the square from the back to the front, and you’re done! It turns out so beautiful that you won’t believe it’s made from just one sheet of origami—give it a try!

Nemophila is known as a flower that blooms around April to May.

Its gradient of bluish purple and white is beautiful.

Here’s an idea to make a nemophila using a single sheet of origami.

First, fold and cut the origami into the specified shape, turning the square into a pentagon.

Then fold up the bottom edge of the paper along the straight line that connects the left and right corners.

Rotate the paper and fold all five sides in the same way.

This creates a new pentagonal crease in the center; consider this pentagon the base of the flower.

Make mountain folds at the five corners of the paper and flatten them to form the petals.

Fold any protruding corners outward, and you’re done!
