water lily blossomShonan no Kaze

Shonan no Kaze’s “Suirenka” has long been loved as a classic summer song.
Its irresistibly bright and fun lyrics have hooked countless listeners, making it a staple at karaoke parties.
The rhythm alone lifts your spirits, making it perfect as a driving soundtrack, too.

HANABIMr.Children

“HANABI” is one of Mr.Children’s signature songs and is popular across a wide range of generations.
Its wistful melody perfectly matches the image of fireworks that fade away in a fleeting moment, and just listening to it feels soothing.
The lyrics focus on a perspective on life, with many lines that are easy to relate to.
It’s also a karaoke staple, so be sure to give it a try.

Sparklers ~An August Promise~Sonar Pocket

Sonar Pocket’s “Sparklers ~August Promise~” is a love ballad themed around sparklers, a quintessential symbol of summer.
Set in summer on Enoshima, the lyrics depict a couple’s fleeting romance over one summer.
By likening the scenes to sparklers, the song further enhances its summery atmosphere.
Brimming with happiness, it’s recommended for a romantic karaoke outing with your partner.
The inclusion of a rap section also adds just the right amount of excitement.
together; along with; bothWANIMA

Some people may be anxious about the future or feel as if they’re about to be overwhelmed by hardships.
For those people, I recommend “Tomoni.” It’s a song by the rock band WANIMA and is also well-loved as the theme song for the Kumamoto Earthquake recovery project.
Rather than simply pushing listeners forward, the lyrics—true to the title—carry a tone that invites us to move ahead together.
Singing it will likely soothe listeners with its warm message.
Ms. Hanako on a high pedestalback number

This is a summer love song where vocalist Iyori Shimizu’s glossy singing rides over a rock sound.
As soon as the chorus melody starts, the drama accelerates, and a world unfolds that makes this summer shine as if under a spell.
Although it was released in 2013, it’s a mysteriously comforting track that you’ll find yourself wanting to revisit every summer, no matter how many years go by.
a thousand paper cranesYūsuke

This is a song by Yusuke, inspired by Senbazuru—the thousand paper cranes, a symbol of Japanese culture—which was chosen as the theme song for the 2019 Kanagawa High School Baseball Tournament broadcast.
Having spent his own youth devoted to baseball, he brings real credibility to a high school baseball theme.
Like a thousand cranes that carry prayers and wishes, his singing conveys heartfelt thoughts and offers a powerful cheer to everyone fighting their daily battles.
Ms. SeptemberRADWIMPS

A perfect recommendation for when summer is drawing to a close is RADWIMPS’ “September-san.” It’s included on their 2006 album RADWIMPS 3: The One We Forgot to Bring to the Desert Island.
The title “September-san” plays on the English word “September” and the Japanese honorific “-san,” which together also hint at “September 3rd” (9/3).
September is a time when the days are still hot, but the air slowly starts to feel like autumn.
The song captures the shift from wishing summer would linger a little longer to gradually accepting that it’s time to move on to the next step beyond summer.
It blends RADWIMPS’ signature wordplay and wit with the bittersweet melancholy that everyone feels at summer’s end.
Perfect for a late-summer karaoke session!
