[Challenge] Practice Songs for Beginner Electric Guitarists (61–70)

Banzai ~ So glad I loved you ~Urufuruzu

Ulfuls – Banzai ~I'm Glad I Fell in Love~

The 10th single by Ulfuls, a rock band from Osaka Prefecture also known for their massive hit “Gatts daze!!”.

This track was used as the theme song for the TV drama “Victory Goddess” and is recognized as a number that solidified Ulfuls’ popularity and prowess.

Since it centers on chord strumming with a crunchy sound, it’s approachable even for beginner guitarists; however, be careful not to fall behind or go off timing due to the many obbligato phrases.

With its slow tempo, the guitar solo is also easy to play.

It’s a classic rock ballad that remains a landmark in J-pop history.

Precious thingsroodo obu mejyaa

This is the first indie single by Road of Major, a four-piece rock band formed after being headhunted through the documentary project “Road of Major” on the audition variety show Hamalaja.

It holds the all-time top record for an indie release and is also known as the band’s biggest hit.

The tight bridge mutes and power chords create a sense of speed that really gets you pumped when you play it.

In the interlude, you’ll find accented phrases like single-note riffs incorporating bridge mutes and some brushing, but since the phrases themselves are simple, even beginner guitarists will find it easy to copy.

Crossing fieldLiSA

This is the second single by the female singer LiSA, who, sparked by the massive hit “Gurenge” that was so popular in 2020 you couldn’t go a day without hearing it, has expanded her activities far beyond the realm of anime song singers.

The track was used as the opening theme for the TV anime Sword Art Online, and its intense, battle-inspired feel ties in with the anime.

Although the performance is busy—with crisp riffs over a driving beat and clean-tone arpeggios—each individual technique is simple, making it an approachable song for beginner guitarists.

The guitar solo also uses few notes and is straightforward, offering an easy yet fun introduction to the appeal of rock guitar.

A three-piece rock band, Humbreaders, whose cleverly rhymed, youth-evoking lyrics have garnered strong support especially among younger listeners.

This track opens their second album, “Guitar,” and the emotional guitar phrase in the intro really gets your energy up.

The moving bass line can make some parts sound complex, but since the guitar is largely simple—built around bridge-muting and strumming—it should be approachable for beginners.

That said, the guitar solo features phrases that lock in with the rhythm section and a few faster lines, so aim to play calmly and in control.

You might have the impression that Western pop songs are kind of difficult, but that’s not the case with this one! It’s a worldwide smash hit by Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne, released as a single in 2007.

It’s a power pop-rock tune that really showcases her cute vocals and lifts your mood when you listen.

You can play it using just power chords that only require two fingers to press the strings, so it’s perfect for beginners! It’s also great as a song to try singing while playing—highly recommended for aspiring guitar-vocalists.
