If you’re making puppets by hand, beginners might feel it seems “difficult” or “a lot of work.” However, by using felt, you don’t have to worry about fraying edges, and it’s easy to make! What you’ll need: felt, double-sided tape, a glue gun, scissors, paper, clips, and a pencil.

The designs can also be used for toothbrushing guidance, so be sure to give them a try.

Chick-chan Mascot

Chick-chan Mascot

Let’s make a chick mascot with adorable, round eyes! Using yellow felt, create a template with a compass and cut out four leaf-shaped pieces.

On one piece, draw the eyes and beak, then stitch them with embroidery thread.

Once the eyes and beak are sewn, align it with the other felt pieces and join them using an overcast stitch.

When you’ve sewn about halfway around the last piece, stuff it with filling.

After adding the stuffing, sew it closed to the end, and it’s complete.

Teddy bear made with 100-yen shop gloves

How to Make a Teddy Bear with 100-Yen Store Gloves – Super Easy, No Pattern Needed!
Teddy bear made with 100-yen shop gloves

Here’s an idea for making a teddy bear out of gloves.

Since you don’t need a pattern and there are only a few steps, it should be easy even for beginners at sewing.

Use one glove to make the teddy bear’s head, ears, and body, and use the finger parts of the other glove to make the arms and legs.

For the body, leave the index and ring fingers in place to become the ears, sew it into a pouch shape, trim off the excess, then turn it inside out.

Shape it so it looks like a bear and stuff it with batting; do the same for the arms and legs, then sew on snap buttons and attach them to the body.

Finally, embroider the face, and you’re done.

It’s simple, yet it turns into a great little toy!

amigurumi

[Crochet] How to make a Teru Teru Bozu
amigurumi

Amigurumi are stuffed toys made with crochet.

Crochet might seem difficult, but basically you crochet a round shape using single crochet stitches, increasing and decreasing as needed.

Once you learn the single crochet, it’s not hard as long as you follow the instructions.

After you’ve crocheted the round head of the teru teru bozu, stuff it with fiberfill and close it.

Crochet the lower part as well, sew the two pieces together, add the eyes, and it’s done! Attach a strap or keychain hardware and you can clip it to a bag, so it’s highly recommended.

Sumikko Gurashi Shirokuma

[Kids can make it too] Easy no-sew felt plushie using 100-yen shop materials: Sumikko Gurashi Shirokuma
Sumikko Gurashi Shirokuma

This is a felt mascot inspired by Shirokuma from the ever-popular Sumikko Gurashi characters, loved by kids and adults alike.

Because the character has a simple form, even beginners should find it easy to try.

If you’re not comfortable using a needle and thread, we recommend a no-sew method! If you prepare a paper pattern in advance, it’s convenient because you can make the same item multiple times.

The method is to cut the parts and attach them using fabric double-sided tape.

If you want to take it up a notch, finishing with a blanket stitch over the double-sided tape will make it even cuter and more durable!

Duffy made with fluffy socks

[How to Make] Squishy Sponge [DAISO] Handmade Doll with Fluffy Socks – Duffy – 100-Yen Store Materials – DIY – Craft
Duffy made with fluffy socks

Here’s an idea for making a teddy bear inspired by the popular character Duffy using fluffy socks.

If you make good use of the sock’s pouch-like shape, you can minimize the amount of sewing needed, so take advantage of that when crafting.

Another nice point is that the fluffy fabric hides slightly rough stitches, thanks to the raised fibers.

It’s an idea I’d love beginners to try.

If you carefully recreate the facial markings and the paw pads on the feet, you’ll really capture Duffy’s look!

Wool felt brooch

[100-Yen DIY] Complete Guide to Beginner-Friendly Wool Brooches | Needle Felting | Cat | Brooch
Wool felt brooch

Wool felt is a familiar craft among handcraft lovers.

It might seem a bit daunting for beginners, but as long as you have the tools and materials, it’s surprisingly easy to make! A small brooch might be especially beginner-friendly.

First, prepare wool roving, a felting needle used to felt the wool, and a piece of felt fabric.

Sketch the motif you want onto the felt fabric, then use the felting needle to poke the wool into the felt.

Finally, cut out the motif, sew it together with another piece of felt cut to the same shape, attach the brooch hardware, and you’re done! Have fun arranging it with your favorite motifs, like animals or flowers.
