[Highly Relaxing Songs] Recommended Classics for Stress Relief & Fatigue Recovery, Calming Tracks

There are all kinds of music that can help you relax.

Of course, there’s music specifically made for healing, but even songs with vocals—if they’re slow-tempo or have a warm feel—can be relaxing too.

They say the most effective for relaxation is sound at around 40 decibels or less—about the level of a library.

The songs introduced here are ones that blend in gently and keep you company even at low volume.

Regardless of genre, these are mostly laid-back tracks with a soft atmosphere, so feel free to use them when you want to rest, ease tension, or as background music for sleep.

Chopin’s Ballade No. 1Vladimir Ashkenazy

Vladimir Ashkenazy plays Chopin’s Ballade No. 1 – LIVE!
Chopin's Ballade No. 1Vladimir Ashkenazy

This is a performance of Chopin’s Ballade No.

1 by Vladimir Ashkenazy, a leading interpreter of Chopin.

Although Ashkenazy was not selected for the Chopin Competition—if I recall correctly, it was the third edition—he placed second, which sparked numerous protests.

There was controversy that his Soviet background might have been the reason.

Even so, he overcame such issues and came to be firmly recognized for his talent as a Chopin specialist.

People with genuine ability are ultimately acknowledged, no matter what obstacles they face.

Chopin Polonaise in A-flat major, Op. 53Vladimir Horowitz

Vladimir Horowitz – Chopin Polonaise in A-flat major, Op. 53
Chopin Polonaise in A-flat major, Op. 53Vladimir Horowitz

This is Vladimir Horowitz, one of America’s iconic classical pianists.

Even at an age where you might call him a grandfather, the powerful, life-like energy within him comes through in his performances, and it’s breathtaking.

The ability to express such rises and falls of emotion with both delicacy and boldness is essential for any pianist, but he is truly exceptional.

I highly recommend one of his pieces for a relaxing time enjoying classical music.

Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Movement IWolfgang Amadeus Mozart

My favorite classical piece: Eine kleine Nachtmusik, First Movement, Mozart
Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Movement IWolfgang Amadeus Mozart

It’s a famous masterpiece composed by Mozart and performed with string instruments.

With its rhythmic, crisp melody, it’s one of the more up-tempo pieces in classical music.

It’s also a popular tune in Japan, often used in commercials and as insert music on television.

Birthday ResistanceWorld’s End Girlfriend

World’s End Girlfriend – Birthday Resistance (誕生日抵抗日)
Birthday ResistanceWorld's End Girlfriend

It’s a slightly unusual group called World’s End Girlfriend.

Their songs are, in any case, hard to describe across the board, and this track—if I had to put it in a word or two—gives the impression of looking back on nostalgic birthday memories with a hint of madness.

Yet overall it has a gentle tone that brings peace to the heart.

Cosmic Night Runm-flo loves Nomiya Maki & CRAZY KEN BAND

m-flo loves Maki Nomiya & CRAZY KEN BAND / Cosmic Night Run
Cosmic Night Runm-flo loves Nomiya Maki & CRAZY KEN BAND

It’s a bossa nova–based collaborative track by multiple artists included on an m-flo album.

Layering m-flo’s refreshing dance vibe over Crazy Ken Band’s signature bossa nova style makes for a very interesting song.

It has a calm atmosphere, yet its coolness is irresistible.

If only you were here so I could hold you.miwa

This song is distinguished by its beautiful piano tones.

It was released in 2015 as the 19th single.

It’s a gentle, encouraging song that seems to stay close to those who feel anxious, telling them they’re fine just as they are.

The straightforward vocals bring a sense of calm.

It is the theme song for the drama “Kounodori.”

L.S.Ltoconoma

A track that makes you want to close your eyes and listen quietly at night.

It’s a song by toconoma, an instrumental band formed in 2008.

It’s included on their third album, NEWTOWN, released in 2017.

Stylish sounds that make your ears happy.
