So in this article, I’ll introduce some summer tunes that I especially recommend for high school students! I’ve picked out love songs and youth anthems that students can likely relate to, so be sure to listen while reading the lyrics!

STAND-ALONEAimer

Aimer became hugely popular among high school students as a talented singer.
In 2019, she released “STAND-ALONE.” The song was also used as the theme for the TV drama “Your Turn to Kill,” so many people probably discovered it through the show.

This is the 14th single by Awesome City Club, a three-piece band whose songs reflect each member’s wide-ranging musical background and whose male–female twin vocals have earned them popularity for their expressive richness.
Chosen as the opening theme for the TV drama “She Was Pretty,” the track offers a breezy feel with a sprightly beat and poppy melody—distinct from their 2021 smash hit “Wasurena.” Its message—that it’s okay to enjoy the summer while being honest with yourself, even if you stumble along the way—seems perfectly poised to resonate with high school students.
It’s a number that colors the summers of youth, featuring an outstanding, funky guitar sound that shines through its sense of transparency.
MajesticB’z

B’z is a rock band popular across a wide range of generations, so they have many fans among high school students as well.
Among their songs, “Majestic” is perfect for summer.
While B’z is often associated with fiery rock numbers, this track is a bittersweet ballad that showcases a new side of the band.
It also fits perfectly with a nostalgic summer vibe.

Formed by four childhood friends, BUMP OF CHICKEN is a rock band from Chiba Prefecture whose classic yet experimental sound and lyrically potent messages have influenced countless musicians.
This is their third single.
Inspired by the song, the TV drama “Celestial Observation” featured it as an insert track, and its intro—opening with multilayered guitar that evokes shooting stars—instantly lifts your spirits.
The driving rock sound and emotional vocals perfectly conjure the feeling of a summer night sky.
It’s a rock tune that vividly colors a high school summer, and the track that helped bring BUMP OF CHICKEN’s name to widespread recognition.

The 16th single by E-girls.
Released on July 20, 2016 as the first installment of their two-month consecutive release, W CONCEPT SUMMER SINGLE.
The concept of the song is “E.G.
POP,” showcasing E-girls’ poppy, sparkling charm.
Sound of SummerGReeeeN

This song by the masked dentist band GReeeeN was released as a digital-only single on June 10, 2015.
With sounds and melodies inspired by traditional Japanese motifs, it’s a masterpiece that evokes the end of summer.
It was used as the campaign song for Kirin’s Namacha (unsweetened green tea).
